Tyler Perry Studios, sometimes referred to as TPS, is an American film production studio, founded by actor, filmmaker, and playwright Tyler Perry in 2006 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The studio occupies two former Delta Air Lines affiliated buildings in the Greenbriar area of southwest Atlanta, and includes 200,000 square feet (19,000 m) of sets and office space. Its opening, in the fall of 2008, was attended by Patti LaBelle, Sidney Poitier, Will Smith, Cicely Tyson, Oprah Winfrey, and Hank Aaron, among others. Through 34th Street Films, a production arm of Tyler Perry Studios, Perry guides the work of other filmmakers.

Tyler Perry Studios was first established as The Tyler Perry Company, Inc. from 2000-2005, and became known as Tyler Perry Studios in 2006 to the present day. Since then Tyler Perry Studios have made 16 movies, 14 stage plays, 5 television series, and has published 2 books. Half of those movies and stage plays are centered on Mabel "Madea" Simmons, a 70-year-old sassy, pistol-packing woman, that gave popularity to many of Tyler Perry Studios' movies and plays.

Years ago, Judith (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) is a therapist working at a matchmaking agency owned by Janice (Vanessa L. Williams). She is married to her childhood sweetheart Brice (Lance Gross) whom she has known since she was 6. Brice and Judith attend the same church as her mother Miss Sarah (Ella Joyce), a devout Christian with strong beliefs. Brice is a pharmacist and is soon introduced to a new employee, Melinda (Brandy Norwood). Melinda soon reveals that she is on the run from an abusive boyfriend, who had tried to kill her. Judith is dissatisfied with her job and anxious to start her own business in marriage counseling, but Brice is cautious and tells her to wait until they are more financially stable, which frustrates Judith. She is further frustrated when Brice refuses to confront men who catcall her on their way home from dinner.

Tyler Perry Presents Peeples centers around the Peeples, an affluent East Coast family celebrating their annual reunion for Moby Dick Day – a Peeples family tradition at Sag Harbor in the Hamptons. Their weekend is interrupted when Wade Walker (Robinson), the fiance of their daughter Grace (Washington) crashes to propose marriage after being goaded by his brother Chris. Upon arrival he loses his wallet while being chased by the family dog. While at the grocery store Wade notices Virgil (David Allen Grier), Grace's father and a judge having a conversation with an unidentified woman, who is later revealed to be the mayor of the town, as well as a conversation between Gloria (Hawk), Grace's Sister and her lover Meg;(Lewis-Davis) unknown to the family. As the time goes on, Wade begins to learn other things about Grace, such as her older ex-boyfriends, and the fact that she has breast implants. Wade also discovers that Grace's mother Daphne (S. Epatha Merkerson), was a professional singer during the 70's, as well as a recovering alcoholic.
