Synopsis
Herman Heupelkossel, un agent hospitalier dans un hôpital de New York, est toujours plein d'empathie pour les patients. Un jour, une jeune femme est amenée inconsciente et pleine de sang, victime d'un conducteur en état d'ivresse, John Russell, âgé de 24 ans, qui veut être puni pour ce qu'il a fait. Herman voit que la jeune femme, Julia Wilkins, sera en fait remise en quelques jours et convainc John de cacher son ébriété, car ainsi il pourra aider Julia. Julia guérit et John et elle tombent amoureux. Il lui propose de l'épouser un soir en la raccompagnant chez elle.Actors

Son diplôme d'université en poche, Russell Tilford informe sa mère Cordelia qu'il veut reprendre le journal familial pour le moderniser. Joyce et Jimmy, deux employés, sont amoureux l'un de l'autre mais leur mariage est régulièrement repoussé à cause de l'incapacité de Jimmy à obtenir une promotion. Alors qu'il vient de perdre son emploi à la suite d'une négligence, elle lui en trouve un autre, à son insu. Alors qu'elle croit qu'il va lui proposer de l'épouser, il lui offre en fait de travailler comme sa secrétaire. Déçue, elle accepte quand même. Joyce s'occupe bien des clients, donnant ainsi l'impression que Jimmy s'en sort bien. Mais il commence à sortir avec Gladys, la sœur de son patron, négligeant à la fois Joyce et son travail. Joyce couvre son absence à une conférence, mais il arrive en fait en retard et lui reproche d'avoir usurpé son poste. Il est licencié sur le fait. Lorsqu'ils se revoient par hasard deux ans plus tard, Jimmy est sur une pente descendante alors que Joyce est un célibataire à succès. Mais leur ancien amour revit et il promet d'être à nouveau digne d'elle.

Construction worker Vince Everett (Elvis) accidentally kills a drunken and belligerent man in a barroom brawl. He is sentenced to between one and ten years in the state penitentiary for manslaughter. His new cellmate, washed-up country singer Hunk Houghton (Shaughnessy), starts teaching Vince to play the guitar after hearing Vince sing and strum Hunk's guitar. Hunk then convinces Vince to participate in an upcoming inmate show, which is broadcast on nationwide television. Vince receives numerous fan letters as a result; but out of apparent jealousy, Hunk ensures they are not delivered to Vince. Hunk then convinces Vince to sign a "contract" to become equal partners in his act. Meanwhile, during an inmate riot in the mess hall, a guard shoves Vince, who retaliates by striking the guard. As a result, the warden orders Vince to be lashed with a whip. Afterwards, it was discovered that Hunk attempted to bribe the guards to drop the punishment, but to no avail.

Retired Papa Strauss, a widower, who has been a successful dye manufacturer, is being shifted around from one married-son's home to the other, and is not welcome at all because his daughter-in-laws' object to his smelly pipe smoking.
