Samuel Malakian est à la recherche de sa fille Nathalie. L'affaire commençant à faire quelque bruits dans les médias, on conseille au protecteur de se marier avec Nathalie. Samuel est convié à la noce et tente en vain de faire renoncer sa fille à ce mariage. Persuadé que sa fille n'était pas consentante, il reprend le combat, compromet le protecteur avec des photos et une bande magnétique. Le baron découvrant ces documents comprend que le protecteur le double, il le convoque, lui demande de tuer Nathalie, ce qu'il fait, puis est tué à son tour. La police, le journaliste et Samuel arrivent sur les lieux, le baron finit par se rendre mais Samuel le tue.

Arthur Kirkland (Al Pacino), a defense attorney in Baltimore, is in jail on a charge of contempt of court for having thrown a punch at judge Henry T. Waites), who was stopped for a minor traffic offense but then mistaken for a killer of the same name and has already spent a year and a half in jail, as Kirkland continues his efforts to have the case reviewed against Fleming's resistance. Though there is strong new evidence that Jeff is innocent, Fleming refuses McCullaugh's appeal due to a minor technicality and leaves him in prison.
