Produced by N. V. Prasad and S. Naga Ashok Kumar on Sri Sai Deva Productions banner, the film stars Venkatesh and Trisha Krishnan and features music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
The title for the film was derived from a song from Missamma. The film was released commercially on 27 April 2007 and became a high commercial success. It was also a critically successful, winning three Nandi Awards and one Filmfare Award. Following its success, the film was remade in Tamil as Yaaradi Nee Mohini, in Bengali as 100% Love, in Kannada as Anthu Inthu Preethi Banthu and in Oriya as Prema Adhei Akshyara.
Synopsis
Ganesh (Venkatesh) is from a middle-class family. He makes several bids to obtain employment but all goes in vain due to his poor language skills and inadequate educational qualifications. All his friends settle in life, but he continues to struggle in finding employment. Ganesh has two faithful friends in Vasu (Srikanth), and Seenu (Sunil). His father (Kota Srinivasa Rao), who is a teacher, is always critical of him for being an irresponsible person. This just added to his list of woes.Actors

Venkata Ramana (Daggubati Venkatesh) a.k.a Venky is a ventriloquist. An astrologer (M. S. Narayana) predicts that if he does not get married in one year, he will be a single man forever. He goes to Paris to show his talent to the company of Paris Prasad (Brahmanandam). Paris Prasad fools everyone and he was given a loan from a bank. But he has not repaid the loan to the bank. Venky befriends Sheikh Raj (Ali). Venky also falls in love with Pooja (Trisha Krishnan), the niece of Paris Prasad. Pooja has no feelings for Venky, but Paris Prasad tells Venky that Pooja too loves him and fools him. Slowly Pooja and Venky become friends. Pooja goes back to India and finds that her marriage has been arranged with Bhadrappa (Subbaraju), the son of her uncle, Changala Rayudu (Mukesh Rishi). Venky asks Paris Prasad for help. Prasad comes with Venky to save Pooja by telling him that Pooja loves him and wants to break the marriage. But Pooja loves an NRI named Rahul. There Venky introduces himself to everyone as Pranit and makes fools of them by giving the partnership of his factory's benefit. One day when Venky with Prasad and Pooja runs away, Bhaddrapa's uncle (Jaya Prakash Reddy) comes to know everything. He tells everyone this. Then Venky goes to his village along with Prasad, Rahul and Pooja. He introduces his family, his uncles, Narayana (Chandra Mohan) and Malesh Yadav (Kota Srinivasa Rao). After that Bhaddrapa's grandfather hatches a plan in which Venky will come with Pooja and they will kill him. But Venky ends up coming with his full family, so they could not kill him. But after coming here, Venky comes to know that Pooja loves Rahul. When Pooja's uncle attacks them, Venky saves everybody. Pooja realizes she loves Venky. Paris Prasad also realizes his mistake and gets Venky and Pooja married. After the marriage, Prasad asks Venky to give him money with which he can repay the bank loan. But Venky laughs after hearing this.

The story is set in the backdrop of the slums of Pudhupettai in Chennai, as the title suggests, where a high school kid Kokki Kumar (Dhanush) sees his mom dead after he comes back from watching a film. His father, the murderer is also planning to kill his son Kumar. Kumar sensing danger runs away from home. Homeless and with no food Kumar resorts to begging until he is falsely arrested while standing by and watching a commotion on the street. In jail he befriends handymen of a local goon who take Kumar with them and give him petty jobs to do. In a confrontation with goons of another gang Kumar kills the brother of his enemy gang's head Murthy thus earning the respect of his gang and making enemies for himself both within his gang and outside.

Irandam Ulagam is about two stories which unfold concurrently in two different planets – our Earth and an unnamed exoplanet. On earth a timid medical student Ramya (Anushka Shetty) who has a crush on an academic mathematician Madhu Balakrishnan (Arya). He initially refuses her proposal for marriage as his father is in valid needing his full attention and care. Later, Madhu gradually reciprocate Ramya's love seeing her caring nature and proposes marriage. But, she reluctantly rejects his proposal as her family had already arranged marriage. While on a trip to Goa, Madhu wins Ramya's heart while her fiance abruptly cancels the marriage citing dowry as reason. She instantaneously dies in a freak accident and this is followed by the news of death of Madhu's paralysed father too. Depressed by the sudden twin tragedies, Madhu becomes a vagabond in Goa. He sees an apparition of his dead father that tells him death is an illusion. Later, in one of the tourist spots, he follows an empty car to a hilltop and tries to commit suicide. He gets injured and faints while trying to drive the car.

Karthik Swaminathan (Dhanush), referred to as 'Genius' by his friends, is a freelance photographer who aspires to become a wildlife photographer like Madhesh Krishnasamy (Raviprakash). Mahesh (Dhanush) is the son of a poor fisherman (Thalaivasal Vijay), who grows up seeing his parents always having sex or fighting. In 1279 A.D., the downfall of the Chola dynasty seems imminent as the Pandyas drive the Chola people out of their kingdom in southern India. To escape them and save the life of his successor the Chola emperor sends his son along with the Chola people to a secret territory. The refugees take along an idol sacred to the Pandyas, angering them. To capture the escaped Cholas and the stolen idol, the Pandyas extend their invasion to unexplored territories but cannot find them.

Sriram (Venkatesh) and Seeta (Soundarya) have no children even after three years of marriage life. Sriram comes to know through the doctor that his wife cannot bear children, he is not willing to hurt his wife's feelings, he takes the blame on himself. Sriram's father (Kota Srinivasa Rao) is very fond of children so he always blackmails Sriram to make the second marriage. While on a business tour to Nepal, he marries a Nepali girl Manisha (Vineetha) under some unavoidable circumstances. When he comes to know that she is carrying his child, Sriram arranges for her stay at his friend Giri's (Brahmanandam) house. Manisha delivers a boy and Sriram adopts him with his wife's consent who is not aware of the truth. After some years Sriram's father comes to know truth through Giri, he wants Sriram to get back Manisha and make a clean of things to Seeta. But Sriram who is apprehensive of his Seeta's reaction begs his father to keep the whole affair under wraps and he brings Manisha as a cook to his house. The story takes a turn to climax when Seeta is not happy with the goings on in the kitchen, she tries to get Manisha married off to someone else, then Sriram reveals the secret, Seeta also understands situations and circumstances and she happily welcomes Manisha into their lives. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note of two wives live happily with one husband.
