Abdul the Damned is a 1935 British drama film directed by Karl Grune and starring Fritz Kortner, Nils Asther and John Stuart. It was made by British International Pictures. It is set in the Ottoman Empire in the years before the First World War, where the eponymous absolutist Sultan Abdul Hamid II and the republican Young Turks battle for power. It is also known as Abdul Hamid.

En septembre 1894, le service de renseignement français prend connaissance d'un incident d'espionnage à Paris. Des secrets militaires auraient été transmis à l'attaché militaire allemand à Paris, Maximilian von Schwartzkoppen. « Dans l'intérêt de l'armée », dit-on, le ministre de la Guerre Auguste Mercier doit rapidement trouver un coupable. Le 15 octobre de la même année, Alfred Dreyfus, capitaine au sein de l'état-major, d'origine juive, né en Alsace, jusqu'alors totalement innocent, est arrêté sur la base d'éléments de preuve légèrement construits. L'agitation antisémite dans la presse, l'armée et la politique crée rapidement un chaudron contre le traître présumé à Paris dans les années 1890.

Les révolutionnaires discutent du sort du roi Louis XVI. Le groupe autour de Georges Jacques Danton plaide pour l'exécution. Le roi est traduit en justice et il est exécuté. Il y a d'autres procès contre des nobles et des condamnations à la peine capitale sont prononcées. Lorsque Danton se rend dans une prison, il tombe amoureux de la prisonnière Louise Gély. Maintenant, Danton entre en conflit avec son adversaire Robespierre. Robespierre réussit à amener Danton au banc des accusés, à le condamner à mort et le passer sous la guillotine.
