Another Cinderella Story (also known as A Cinderella Story 2) is a 2008 teen comedy musical dance film directed by Damon Santostefano and starring Selena Gomez, Drew Seeley and Jane Lynch. The film was released directly to DVD on September 16, 2008. It is a thematic stand-alone sequel to the 2004 film A Cinderella Story, reprising the same themes and situations but not containing any characters from the original film. It was followed by A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song in 2011.
The film premiered on ABC Family on January 18, 2009 and was ranked as the number one cable movie in several key demographics when aired on the television channel. The film won the 2010 Writers Guild of America Award for Children's Script-Long or Special.
Synopsis
This film is a retelling of the Cinderella fairy tale in a modern setting, with Mary Santiago (Selena Gomez), a high school student with ambitions of becoming a dancer, taking the role of Cinderella; Tami (Jessica Parker Kennedy) Mary's only friend as her fairy godmother; Dominique Blatt (Jane Lynch) taking the role of the stepmother; Britt (Emily Perkins) and Bree (Katharine Isabelle) as the two stepsisters; and Joey Parker, (Drew Seeley), now a famous celebrity that has returned to school for his senior year and to remember why he started dancing, as the prince. A school dance substitutes for the ball, with the role of the glass slipper filled by a Zune.Actors

Over-worked, bullied and terrified of being put in foster care, seventeen-year-old Katie Gibbs (Lucy Hale) is a singer who does her stepmother and stepsiblings' bidding with no complaints. She's constantly harassed by Gail, her stepmother. The film starts in a dream where she performs a music video for her hit single ("Run This Town"). Her stepbrother, Victor (Matthew Lintz) then wakes her up demanding breakfast. Soon after, it becomes obvious how badly she's treated by Gail (Missi Pyle) and her stepsister Beverly, also known as Bev (Megan Park). At the Wellesley Academy of the Arts, Guy Morgan (Dikran Tulaine), the president of the Massive Records Company enrolls his son into the school where Gail is headmistress. Katie, wanting to make a change in her life, sneaks her demo into Guy's briefcase. Guy wants his son, Luke (Freddie Stroma), to produce the showcase and start following in his footsteps. However, Luke is less than excited about that idea.

Whittier (Anne Judson-Yager) arrives at the fictional California State College hoping to join the national champion varsity cheerleading team. She meets up with her friend from cheerleading camp, Monica (Faune Chambers), and they're both impressive at the tryouts. Head cheerleader Tina (Bree Turner) is ready to ask them to join the team, but Greg (Bryce Johnson) goes a step further, telling Tina that Whittier will be the next head cheerleader. This angers Tina's pal Marni (Bethany Joy Lenz), who had the position staked out, but at the urging of Dean Sebastian (Kevin Cooney), Tina goes along with the plan, taking Whittier under her wing. Whittier meets Derek (Richard Lee Jackson), a campus D.J. who immediately takes a shine to her. But Tina is very demanding and controlling. She warns Whittier that Derek is not the type of boy she should be dating. Monica is bothered by Tina's meddling, but Whittier momentarily lets her cheerleading ambition get the better of her, and breaks it off with Derek. Then Tina, upset with Monica's sassy attitude, punishes her which leads to an injury and she forces Whittier to choose between her friendship and the squad. Whittier and Monica get fed up and quit Tina's tyranny, but Whittier's school spirit cannot be suppressed. With Monica's help, she gathers up the outcasts from the drama club, the dance club, and other groups that have lost their funding because of the squad and forms a ragtag squad of her own, determined to battle the varsity squad for a spot at the national championship. The two teams end up competing for the spot at nationals, with Whittier's squad ultimately winning. Afterward Whittier offers Tina a spot on her squad, which Tina refuses but ends up wanting. The film ends with Tina sucking up to Whittier and Monica, deciding she wants to be on their squad after all, while Marni comically throws a fit.

Quincy Johnson (Jerry Trainor) is a barely unemployed adult gamer who lives at home with his parents. Quincy plays video games under the username "Q", and is renowned in the gaming community for his many awards and world records. Much to Quincy's dismay, his parents decide to sell their house, meaning Quincy will need to find a new place of residence. Quincy decides to try to buy the house from them for $175,000. He plans on getting the money from a tournament for a new video game called Black Hole, where the grand prize is $175,500. He discusses the dilemma with his number one fan, Wendell (Amir Talai). While practicing for the tournament, Quincy finds a player named "Prodigy" whom he cannot defeat. In the late 1980's, Robert "Fish" Fishman (Rainn Wilson) is the drummer in Vesuvius, a fictional heavy metal/glam metal band from Cleveland, Ohio on the verge of making it big. Harper Hutton was once a Broadway dance star until a leg injury cut her career short. While she has gone on to be a successful choreographer, Harper still wishes for the stardom denied her. The entire Russo family—Alex (Selena Gomez), Justin (David Henrie), Max (Jake T. Austin), and their parents Jerry (David DeLuise) and Theresa (María Canals Barrera)—are preparing for a vacation to the Caribbean. An unenthusiastic Alex reluctantly agrees to tag along after a death-threatening situation in which Harper (Jennifer Stone) and Alex were almost hit by a coming subway. Justin saves the two for a chance to be praised at using magic to save Alex once again after Alex does something wrong. Once in the Caribbean, the family meets a boy working at the hotel that Alex instantly develops a crush on. The family then visits a street fair, where they meet a street magician and former wizard (Steve Valentine) (who lost the full-wizard contest to his older brother) named Archie who wants to turn his girlfriend, Giselle, from a parrot back into a human by finding the Stone of Dreams, which has the power to grant any wish or reverse any spell. Jerry considers it crazy since many wizards have gone on the quest and never returned.
