Backstage is a 2000 documentary film directed by Chris Fiore, chronicling the 1999 Hard Knock Life Tour that featured several of hip hops top acts including Jay-Z, DMX, Method Man and Redman. Produced by Damon Dash, Backstage featured live performances by several members of Def Jam's roster and gave an in-depth look at what happened backstage.
Synopsis
Les labels Def et Roc-A-Fella réunissent leurs rappeurs pour une tournée de 54 dates à travers les États-Unis (Charlotte, New York, Los Angeles, Denver, ...) et le Canada (une date à Montréal). Jay-Z, DMX, Ja Rule sont traités comme des stars, mais les « jeunes » derrière eux logent dans un bus sans aucun luxe. Les patrons des labels s'embrouillent. Les rappeurs rencontrent des filles très fans. Method Man et Redman laissent libre cours à leur imagination débordante et enfumante...Actors

The plot is centered on two underachieving pot smokers: Silas (Method Man) and Jamal (Redman). The film begins in early 1999, with two young New York street criminals Tommy Bunds ("Bundy") (DMX) and Sincere ("Sin") (Nas), along with their associates in crime Mark and Black. The four violently rob a nightclub, murdering five people. Escaping in a stolen car, they cheer their success. Black goes to dump the car while the rest retreat to Tommy's house, where they celebrate and joke around (The movie Gummo is playing on the tv), waking Tommy's girlfriend Keisha (Taral Hicks). Sincere soon leaves and is followed in gesture by the others. He returns home to his girlfriend Tionne (Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins) and infant daughter Kenya. Meanwhile, Tommy learns of a new form of heroin which he takes as a lucrative business opportunity.
