Synopsis

Adèle est une jeune femme, assistante littéraire aux éditions "Le Félin". Adèle est une jeune femme lunaire, dans son monde qui se satisfait d'amants occasionnels et plus ou moins réguliers qu'elle ne sait pas trop comment éconduire... en effet Adèle ne sait pas dire Non! Mais un jour, dans un café, elle rencontre Matteo, journaliste italien et écrivain en panne d'inspiration. Les deux s'apprivoisent avec précaution...

Trois vieillards sont morts à quelques mois d'intervalle, après une piqûre d'araignée, la loxosceles rufescens. Le petit monde des arachnophiles s'affole : la bestiole aurait-elle muté après avoir ingéré trop de pesticides ? L'hypothèse d'Adamsberg est évidemment plus prosaïque : l'araignée ne cacherait-elle pas une série de meurtres ? Il ne lui en faut pas plus pour se lancer dans une enquête, au grand dam de Danglard, pas vraiment convaincu.

In 1960s Rome, four young delinquents, nicknamed Cold, Lebanese, Dandi and Grand steal a car. Crashing through a police road block, the driver, Grand is crushed by the steering column. Back at their hideout, a small disused caravan near a beach, they are discovered by the police. Cold, Lebanese and Dandi run away, but are captured. Grand, who is mortally wounded, dies in the caravan. Roll opening credits. Some years later, in the 1970s, Cold is released from prison and joins up with Lebanese, who tells him he has come up with a plan to kidnap and hold to ransom Baron Rossellini, a wealthy aristocrat for whom Lebanese's parents worked. He has formed a gang with Dandi - they are Black, Bright Eye, Ricotta, Bufalo, Rat and Ciro and Aldo Buffoni. After negotiating the ransom of 3 billion lire, the Baron is shot by one of the Cannizzari brothers who have been entrusted by Lebanese to guard him. Nonetheless, they fake the proof of life and get the 3 billion lire. However, the local Police Commissioner Nicola Scialoja manages to record the serial numbers of the ransom money before the gang receive it, setting out to capture the gang. As the gang divide up the money, Lebanese proposes to split 500 million lire between them, and use the remaining 2.5 billion to build a foothold in the criminal underworld of Rome, starting with drug dealing. However, the drugs racket is owned by the dealer Terrible, and so the gang wipe his gang out apart from Gemito, who Lebanese bribes to help them. After his home is raided and his body guards killed, Terrible wakes to find Cold, Lebanese and Dandi in his bedroom. Cornered, he reluctantly agrees to let give control of the racket to the gang.

Writer Leo Shepherd is informed that he has won the Nobel Prize. He lives in the Swiss countryside with his daughter, Virginie, who has given up her entire life for him, and he has an estranged son, Paul, who lives in the city. Leo makes his way to Sweden on a motorcycle, against the advice of his friends. Paul hears of his father having won the prize, and calls him to congratulate him, but his sister refuses to let Paul speak to their father. Still wishing to reconnect with his father, Paul sets off to find him. They first meet up at a petrol station, and later at the scene of an accident. Leo barely manages to survive. Taking advantage of the confusion, Paul kidnaps Leo, claiming that his father had not spent much time with him when he was growing up. Meanwhile, Leo's identification papers are found at the scene of the accident, and he is reported dead. Paul ties up Leo with yellow tape, and takes him on a road trip, giving Paul an opportunity to have his say and make Leo listen.
