Set in the modern day at a European estate, Carmilla is torn emotionally by the engagement of her friend Georgia to her cousin Leopoldo. Nina is a young headstrong woman who has traveled to Paris from her provincial home in Toulouse searching immediate success as an actress. The primary characters are known only as the Young Girl and the Chinese Man.
