Synopsis
David et Peter Jade sont des frères jumeaux qui ne se ressemblent qu'en apparence, leurs destins étant diamétralement opposés. En effet, le premier est le meilleur détective de Los Angeles, et l'autre le voleur le plus insaisissable qui soit! Mais une nuit, Peter va s'emparer d'un mystérieux objet qu'un certain Phillip Chamberlain, industriel véreux, veut récupérer à tout prix. Peter and David Falcone are twin waiters who want nothing more than to open their own restaurant, but are unable to get a loan. Frank Hillhurst is a corrupt businessman who has decided to give states' evidence, but his former right-hand-man has threatened to kill Hillhurst's twin nephews and Hillhurst himself if he testifies. After the Falcone brothers save Hillhurst's life, he hires them to protect his young nephews, paying them more than they have ever made in their life. Hillhurst soon departs with Federal Agents, leaving Peter and David with a pair of massively mischievous ten-year-old boys with a double mean streak.

Jeffrey Evans (Walter Pidgeon), an American ambassador to Mexico, is the sole parent to his teenage daughter, Christine (Jane Powell). She finds fulfillment in managing her father's life and spending time with him. Her father forces her to attend a party where her childhood friend, Stanley Owen (Roddy McDowell), who has just turned sixteen, awaits her. In revenge she gives Stanley one of her father's expensive, brand-new tobacco pipes. Stanley, thinking that this gift was meant to show that he is finally a man, asks Christine to be "his girl", but she insists that she is too busy for that. Yvette Baranga (Helene Stanley), the daughter of the French ambassador, begs Christine if she can attend Jeffrey Evans' upcoming party. Christine agrees, unaware that Yvette has a crush on her father. When they return home, Christine asks her father to permit her to arrange the party, to which he agrees. The next day, Stanley comes to drive her to her errands. Christine apologizes for being rude to Stanley, and says he doesn't have to drive her, but he takes her to speak with Toni Karpathy (Ilona Massey), who agrees to sing at the party. Unbeknownst to Christine, Toni was once a love interest of her father.

The three Rawlins children, Charlie, Carrie, and Paul are evacuated from London during The Blitz to the remote village of Pepperinge Eye. They are placed in the reluctant care of Miss Eglantine Price, a reclusive woman who agrees to the arrangement temporarily. The children attempt to run away back to London, but change their minds after observing Miss Price attempting to fly on a broomstick. Miss Price reveals she is learning witchcraft through a correspondence school with hopes of using her spells in the British war effort, and offers the children a transportation spell in exchange for their silence. Fred Miller (Tony Randall) must prove that his new design for an underwater home is viable by convincing his family to live in it for 30 days. Toaster is a feminine-voiced leader of a group of appliances consisting of an antique radio, a gooseneck lamp, Lampy; an electric blanket, Blanky; and a vacuum cleaner, Kirby, who belong to their master, Rob. They wait every day at Rob's cottage for his return with an increasing sense of abandonment, causing Blanky to hallucinate about finally seeing Rob return. One day, the appliances are devastated to learn that a real estate broker is selling the house. Not wanting to accept the fact that the Master would abandon them, Toaster decides that the group should head out and find Rob.
