Synopsis
Lap and Wei were childhood buddies who grew up training together in the state-sponsored martial arts troupe. Wei felt there was no future in the troupe and plotted to remain illegally in the USA when the troupe was on a performance tour. Lap found out at the airport just before their return flight and tried to stop Wei. Lap not only failed to dissuade Wei, he also became the unwitting scapegoat after Wei unintentionally killed an airport police. Both went separate paths.Actors

Lam Wai Tung has cancer. In order to raise money for his younger brother Wai Leung to study medicine overseas, he robs some diamond for smuggler Chiu Ying Kau. After the robbery, he hides the real diamonds himself and gives fake diamonds to Chiu, which he then finds out and kills Tung. In order to recover the diamonds, Chiu sets a scheme and makes Leung a murder suspect and arranges his Japanese female subordinate Miko to save him and hide him and nurse his gunshot wounds. Under Miko's attentive treatment, Leung heals and they establish a profound friendship.

King Kong and Baldy, the "Aces," part ways in 1986 after a mission in Thailand to kidnap a woman on her way to marry her boyfriend (a rich man claiming to be her husband enlisted the Aces' services) goes sour. Three years later, figures from the famous Terracotta Army and a Qing Dynasty bronze sword called the "Chinese Excalibur" is stolen during their transport to an exhibition in Hong Kong. Interpol officer Dickson Kwan is sent to Hong Kong to investigate in a fake passport forgery case and collaborates with officer Pau Sei and Lau Ting Kin. Due to different approaches on investigating, Dickson and Sei often get into conflicts. Later during an arrest operation, Dickson saves Sei's life and they forget about their bygones. In Shanghai during the 1930s, Sing and his friend Bone attempt to join the Deadly Axe Gang which ruthlessly control the city under leadership of Brother Sum. Sing seeks to restore his confidence after being humiliated as a young boy while trying to protect a mute girl from bullies, due to the failure of the Buddhist Palm method he had learned from a pamphlet he bought from beggar. Sing and Bone attempt to intimidate the residents of Pig Sty Alley but are chased off by its Landlady. Hearing of this, Sum orders Sing and Bone captured, while sending the Gang to reassert its authority from the humiliation. Three of the tenants, Coolie, Fairy, and Donut, are revealed as martial arts masters and defeat more than fifty of the Gang. Fearing retribution, the Landlady evicts the three, but they meet a pair of hired assassins using a magical guqin to launch invisible blades. Coolie is beheaded, and Fairy and Donut are mortally wounded before the Landlady and her husband the Landlord reveal that they too are martial arts masters, having gone into self-exile after the death of their son. The two defeat the assassins but Fairy and Donut die from their wounds. The Landlords temporarily evacuate the other tenants for their safety.

Li Bai (Dick Wei) is the creator and master of the 'Shi Zi So Hou Shou' (which basically is a ' Throat Locking Hand', otherwise known as 'Shaolin Hand Lock') who passes down the skill to his children Cheng Ying (David Chiang) and Meng Ping (Chen Ping). However, an old friend Fang Yun Biao (Chan Shen) visits Li Bai and manages to kill him by attacking the skills only weakness and unknowingly, also kills his two other students to whom he believed were Li Bai's children. After his children find out of the murder, Cheng Ying sets out to avenge his father. Travelling to Thailand to kill Fang and before that, gives him information of who hired him - the rich benevolent Lin Hao (Lo Lieh). In the process, he attracts Lin Hao into accepting him as a bodyguard by stealing and retaining in custody gold that belonged to Lin Hao. While suspected by other guards, Lin Hao remains in a difficult situation to find out if Li Bai's siblings are still alive and what Cheng Ying is really there for.
