The plot concerns a group of American students camping in Ireland, and studying the legends of the Druids, who are attacked by deformed mutant cannibals from the backwoods.
The film was originally produced in 2002–2003, in a longer version with more blood humor and nudity, titled simply Samhain, but languished until 2005–2006, when it was shortened, retitled Evil Breed: The Legend of Samhain, and released on DVD by Lions Gate Entertainment. It has also played on cable television on the Showtime network.
Synopsis
Deux touristes américains en voyage romantique sont brutalement assassinés. Quelques jours plus tard, au cours de l'ancienne fête de Samhain, un groupe d'étudiants américains s'installent dans un magnifique chalet, entouré par une forêt luxuriante et un lac majestueux. Ils sont ici pour en savoir plus sur les rituels des anciens druides et autres légendes celtiques. This movie opens with a news montage explaining that it is set in a dystopic near-future in which George W. Bush has been elected to a fourth term. The United States Congress has been disbanded; public nudity is banned; the United States is embroiled in wars with France, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Syria, Venezuela, Canada, and Alaska. With more wars than there are soldiers to fight them, a secret laboratory run by Dr. Chushfeld (Brad Milne) in fictional Sartre, Nebraska, has developed a virus to re-animate dead Marines and send them back into battle. However, this virus has broken containment and infected test subjects and scientists, and they are at risk of escaping the lab. A team of Marines codenamed the "Z" Squad is sent in to destroy the zombies. One of the Marines named Byrdflough (Zak Kilberg) is bitten but escapes. He ends up in an alley outside an underground strip club named "Rhino". The Marine dies and awakens as a zombie who goes into the strip club.

Although this film is a remake of 1962's Carnival of Souls, it bears little resemblance to the original aside from the ending. This film centers on Alex Grant (Bobbie Phillips) who witnesses a carnival clown named Louis Seagram (Larry Miller) raping and murdering her mother on January 24, 1977. Twenty years later, Seagram returns after being released from prison and attacks Alex in her car. She drives the car into the river, and as she struggles back to shore she has hallucinations of Seagram and the same carnival where she met him. Alex is then drawn into a ghoulish game of cat and mouse with Seagram at the carnival.

Fawn Deering (Jenna Jameson) is a college student researching animal mythology and human sexuality. This project leads her to Dr. Jade (Asia Carrera) for an interview on the subject. While at Dr. Jade's Manor, she meets Adam (Brad Armstrong) and is immediately drawn to him. After Fawn is completely transformed, she journeys into Adam’s room where they profess their love for each other. Adam finally realizes that he is cursing Fawn for the rest of her lifetime, and sets out to return her to human form.
