Written by Charles Kipps (from a story by Kipps and Chris Noth), the movie revolves around Noth's character, Detective Mike Logan. Kipps received a 1999 Edgar Award for his screenplay.
Synopsis
The movie begins three years after Detective Mike Logan's final appearance on Law & Order in 1995. At the end of the episode "Pride", Logan punches a corrupt, homophobic politician in the face on the courthouse steps after the man's acquittal on a murder charge, in front of several reporters. Although he does not lose his job, Logan is "administratively re-assigned" to the Domestic Disputes Department on Staten Island. While he struggles to cope with feelings of resentment and isolation, fate offers him a chance at redemption when a forgotten murder case unexpectedly drifts Logan's way.Actors

Mike Logan, un inspecteur de la police de New York, vient de passer trois ans à Staten Island, après avoir enquêté sur un politicien corrompu. La découverte du cadavre d'une prostituée dans les environs du port lui fait penser que s'il obtient le droit de mener à bien cette investigation, il pourra rejoindre son commissariat d'origine à Manhattan. Son ancien chef lui permet d'enquêter, uniquement s'il accepte d'être secondé par Frankie Silvera. Les deux policiers ne tardent pas à découvrir divers indices qui les mènent à un grand ponte de la mafia. Tout se complique lorsqu'ils découvrent qu'un policier véreux, du commissariat de Logan, est également impliqué dans l'affaire.

After three men are discovered hideously mutilated (their faces have been removed) and strung up among New York City's high-tension wires, Detective Klaski (Bruno Campos) stumbles upon a link: Each of the men knew entomologist Remy (Alix Koromzay), a teacher at an inner-city high school. Klaski considers Remy to be a prime, albeit unlikely, suspect in the killings until he witnesses for himself the shape-shifting creature that has been stalking Remy: an intelligent mutant insect with the face of its previous victim. Bob Mitchell (Dabney Coleman) and his wife Jean (Cloris Leachman) are driving through the hot Arizona desert on their way home to Los Angeles. A detour has taken them 100 miles out of the way down a deserted road...because Jean insisted on taking photographs of a particular area to take back to their daughter. Bob is irritated by the delay in getting home - and after throwing a few jabs at Jean, the two stop at a roadside cafe/inn called the Arroyo Motel. Davey Osborne (Henry Thomas) is an 11-year-old who lives in San Antonio with his father, Hal Osborne (Dabney Coleman). His mother has recently died, leaving just him and his father, a military air traffic controller who has problems relating to his child. Davey is a lonely child and is still grieving over his mother, so he immerses himself in the fantasy world of Cloak & Dagger, an espionage game which exists in both role playing and video forms. Davey spends much of his free time playing Cloak & Dagger and spinning elaborate fantasies involving Jack Flack, an imaginary friend who takes the form of a more dashing version of his father (the role of Flack is also played by Coleman).

In 1973, Major Charles Rane (William Devane) returns home to San Antonio with Master Sergeant Johnny Vohden (Tommy Lee Jones), and two other soldiers, after spending seven years as a POW in Hanoi. He finds a home very different from the one he left when he meets his wife Janet (Lisa Blake Richards), his son Mark (Jordan Gerler), and local policeman Cliff (Lawrason Driscoll), waiting to drive him home. Rane soon realizes that his son doesn't remember him, and that Cliff seems overly familiar with Janet and Mark.
