Fanatics est un film américain réalisé par Raymond Wells, sorti en 1917.

Synopsis

Après avoir dilapidé son argent avec sa maîtresse Lola Monroe, Robert Lathrop supplie sa femme Mary de l'aider à obtenir un prêt du roi de l'acier Nicholas Eyre, un ami de feu son père. Après qu'Eyre lui a donné son chèque, Lathrop se rend chez Lola, où il la trouve dans les bras de son amant. Dans la lutte qui s'ensuit, Lathrop reçoit une balle et meurt, mais son corps est disposé de telle façon qu'il semble s'être suicidé. Mary, croyant que Nicholas Eyre a refusé de prêter de l'argent à son mari, cherche à se venger. Elle devient sa secrétaire, et s'associe avec un groupe d'anarchistes dirigé par le Professeur Groesbeck. Elle commence alors à semer la discorde parmi les employés. Lola prévient Eyre de la traîtrise de Mary. Il arrive à convaincre ses employés qu'ils ont été trompés. Groesbeck trouve la mort en tombant dans la fonderie. Mary finit par trouver le chèque et, réalisant son erreur, trouve le bonheur avec le roi de l'acier.

Factory worker Rethna (Madison) comes from an impoverished background. Her raison d'être is to improve the miserable lot of her fellow workers; her chief foe is the cruel factory-owner. Rethna begins a sexual relationship with Henry Burke (William Mong), the owner's disreputable son, and obtains money from him which she funnels to the workers, doing with Burke's money what she believes the Burkes ought to be doing anyway. After a year, she breaks off her relationship with Henry and marries his brother Walter (Edward Hearn), the better man of the two. She continues to support the factory workers with Burke money, and is eventually found out by her husband. Confronted by Walter, who truly loves her, she tells him that she married him only to gain access to his money and avenge the wrongs done by his family; faced with this admission, Walter leaves Rethna.

Réformé parce qu'il est trop petit, le couturier français André Leriche décide de dessiner une robe qui aidera son pays. Son employeur, Madame Felice, vend la robe à M Mortimer Reyton, une femme qui est délaissée par son mari. La robe la transforme au point que, en honneur de leur anniversaire de mariage, Reyton achète trois ambulances pour la France. M Reyton envoie la robe à sa cousine Natalie. Le vêtement pousse Neil Cunningham, un Anglais, à retourner dans son pays pour s'engager dans l'armée pour gagner l'amour de Natalie.
