The film follows four friends who, saddled with "four of the worst jobs known to man", attempt to set the world record for playing Demons, Nymphs, and Dragons (DND), a Dungeons & Dragons-like game.
Filmed in only six days and entirely self-financed with $60,000 from credit cards, the film featured several '80s stars in supporting roles: Kelly Le Brock (Weird Science), Beverly D'Angelo (Entourage, National Lampoon's Vacation), and William Katt (The Greatest American Hero). The soundtrack also includes songs by Loverboy and other '80s bands.
Indie film web sites Indie Film Nation and bumscorner.com named Gamers the "Best Film of 2006." It also received the award for Best Screenplay at the 2006 Melbourne Underground Film Festival.

Elgin (Katt) is a college student who spends much of his time studying literature and concentrating on his physical fitness by playing solitary soccer. One day, he overhears his friend David making love next door. He then hears David's girlfriend pounding on the door, demanding to know who's in his room with him. Shelly (D'Angelo) comes into Elgin's room wearing only a towel, implying she was the woman with David just a moment ago. Local New York City mobster Tony Thick (Armand Assante) is expecting $5 million in cash to be delivered by Lenny Long (Steven Bauer) from Los Angeles, but soon enough he realizes that Lenny is missing, and it's unknown whether he is dead or he stole the money and ran away. A freak cyclone hits Los Angeles causing man-eating sharks to be scooped up in water spouts and flood the city with shark-infested seawater. Bar-owner and surfer Fin sets out with his friends, Baz, Nova, and George, to rescue his estranged wife, April, and their teenage daughter, Claudia, after the bar and boardwalk is destroyed in flooding. While heading to April's home, the group stops in a freeway to save people as flooding causes sharks to attack. George is killed and the group learns of a tornado warning. They arrive at April's house just before the first floor is flooded and shark-infested. Collin, April's boyfriend, is eaten by sharks, but the rest of the group escape unharmed.
