Hell Night is a 1981 American independent horror film directed by Tom DeSimone, written by Randy Feldman, and starring Linda Blair. The film depicts a night of fraternity hazing ("hell night") set in an old manor, during which a deformed maniac terrorizes and murders many of the college students. The film blends elements of slasher films and Creature Features, and has developed a large cult following.
Future film director Chuck Russell, who would helm A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors & the remake of The Blob in 1988 and 2002's The Scorpion King, served here as an executive producer. The film was nominated for a Razzie Awards for Worst Actress for Blair.
Hell Night was the final film released from Compass International Pictures.
Synopsis
The film begins with a young teen girl screaming, only to reveal that she is a student at a frat party. While at the party, the camera cuts to Peter, who is the president of Alpha Sigma Rho. He decides that four new pledges should have an initiation. He decides that the group of youths: bookish Marti, brawn Jeff, partying Denise, and surfer Seth, should spend the night in the supposedly "haunted" estate, Garth Manor, where there was a murder twelve years ago prior to the present events. Peter began telling the story about the previous events that took place twelve years earlier as he leads them to the estate. The house's former owner, Raymonde Garth, who dismembered his family in the parlor strangled & killed his wife to death & kills his four deformed children: Margeret, Morris, & Suzanne, in seemingly violent ways, before finally hanging himself. However, the youngest child, Andrew Garth, dead or alive, was never found and is rumored to have seen the murders and fled the scene. Rumor has it that the deformed Andrew might still be living inside Garth Manor and his remains are left hidden as a deformed monster.Actors

After being released from the institution she was placed in after suffering a mental breakdown, housewife Alice Jarett relocates to the country with her husband Martin, a professor. The house the couple moves into was never finished, so Martin hires a cheap construction crew to complete it. One night, Alice is awakened by hammering in the basement, caused by a carpenter she had not seen with the rest of the crew. Unlike the other workers, this one has a pleasant demeanor and good work ethic, and while Martin is away one night, he stops another carpenter from trying to rape Alice by cutting the man's arms off with a circular saw, sending the dazed Alice back to bed, and cleaning up the mess afterward.

Helen Lyle, a graduate student, conducts research on urban legends, and, in the process, learns of a local legend known as Candyman. The father of New Orleans schoolteacher Annie Tarrant (Rowan) was murdered in a Candyman-like fashion some years prior. When Professor Philip Purcell is murdered in a bathroom by Candyman after presenting the legend at a book signing and calling him forth, Annie's brother is accused of the murder (since his furious public confrontation of Purcell over the subject) and one of her students starts to see the Candyman. In order to disprove to herself that the Candyman exists, she says his name five times in front of a mirror, summoning him to New Orleans on the eve of Mardi Gras, where the killings begin in earnest. Her husband Paul Mckeever becoming one of Candyman's new victims. The film's climax reveals more details of the Candyman's genesis, and his reason for stalking Annie.

In a remote house, an abusive mother locks her young son in a closet, then goes into another room to meet the man she is cheating on her husband with. In 1978, Mary Mattock has her first period, and due to menstrual psychosis, murders her parents with a hatchet. Deemed mentally unfit, Mary is placed in Kings Park Psychiatric Center, where she is raped and impregnated by a guard in 1989. This incident is covered up, and after being told her child was a stillbirth, Mary goes on a rampage through the hospital. The police find Mary wandering the grounds, and open fire on her after she throws the severed head of her rapist at them, ending her killing spree. "Mary Hatchet" subsequently becomes a folklore figure, with local youngsters celebrating the Mischief Night-esque "Blood Night" in her name.
