A raunchy screwball comedy with a romantic subplot, Hold Me follows a small-time criminal hiding from his ex-fiancée and the law in an El Monte, California trailer park, where the production was filmed. While there he meets an assortment of oddball characters, and finds himself juggling the affections of two sisters, a sadistic porn star and a demure virgin.
According to The Austin Chronicle, "The strong points of Hershman's film are his wonderfully wacky story in combination with a terrific, top-notch cast whose performances easily render credible, slice-of-life images of life in the lower-class lane." Despite largely positive reviews, some of which went so far as to compare Hershman to John Waters and Paul Bartel, the film failed to break even at the box office. As of 2013, distribution for the film is handled by Farwest Enterprises, Inc.
Synopsis
When small-time criminal Eli (Max Parrish) accidentally shoots his heiress fiancee (Sean Young) in a forced shot-gun wedding, he flees with her fortune. He winds up in a trailer park in El Monte, California. While waiting for fake ID from a shady criminal (Timothy Leary), he meets an assortment of oddball characters at the trailer-park. There's Sabra (Andrea Naschak) a sadistic porno star who collects Barbie dolls; her virginal younger sister Diana (Adrienne Shelly); Olga (Ania Suli) a washed out Hungarian opera singer/actress; her foul-mouthed son Lazlo (Bella Lehcozky), and two aging southern belles (Diane Ladd and her real life mother) who lust after Eli. After Sabra seduces Bud (Eli's new alias), his real problems begin. Sabra wants him for herself, but he's just interested in her sister.Actors

The kids of small-time crook Jack Charles (Patrick Swayze) are put in a corrupt state-run home called Bigelow Hall when their mother dies of cancer. Undercover cop Nick Dunbar's (Arliss Howard) brother Matt (Loren Dean) is accused of killing his teacher, Mr. Bradwood (Mack Harrell) at Adlai Stevenson High School. Nick loses his temper with Hechtor (Larry Pine), the detective in charge, and gets suspended. Nick's partner Ed (Seymour Cassel) pretends to be Nick's dad to enroll him as a student. Matt gives Nick pointers to get people to talk to him. Nick deals with bullies, girls with crushes on him, teachers & staff who range from quirky to bizarre, and a teacher, Robin Torrence (Suzy Amis), to whom he is attracted who thinks he's a teen. The turning point in his popularity (and therefore his ability to get information) happens in the classroom metaphor scene, in which E.E. Cummings' poem she being brand new, is used in its entirety. The character Renard (Michael Huguenor), who had a large part in the script but was mostly edited out of the film, makes his only appearance in this scene.
