Synopsis
Après trente ans d'absence, August Staudenmeyer retourne à Gerbersau, sa ville natale qu'il a quitté après avoir été déshérité par son père. Il est devenu un riche entrepreneur, a parcouru l'Amérique et la Russie. Arrivé dans la ville, son attention se porte sur Katarina Endriss, une jeune veuve méprisée par la société et qui vit avec sa belle-sœur handicapée mentale.Actors

The Heidelberg chapter of the Anti-Hippocratic Society for unrestricted medical research has been shut down, but at a prestigious Berlin hospital the society still thrives. The young neurosurgeon Jo from Duisburg gets caught up in a research group led by doctor Mueller LaRousse, who urges his students to test their progress on themselves. Jo participates in the trials to eventually help his brother, who has Muscular Dystrophy. When Jo and some of his fellow students show some reluctance, Mueller LaRousse uses alternative means to punish them before they can give up the society to Paula Henning, who is now investigating the society for the police.

The film begins with Lola (Franka Potente) receiving a phone call from her distraught boyfriend, Manni (Moritz Bleibtreu). Manni is a small-time criminal and, during an important job collecting 100,000 marks, he relied on Lola to take him and the money to his boss, Ronnie. Lola's moped was stolen on her journey and Manni is forced to travel by subway but, startled by the sight of police, accidentally leaves the bag of money on the train. Spotting a homeless man examining his money bag as the train departed, Manni pursued the train, only to find the man and the money gone.
