I due gattoni a nove code... e mezza ad Amsterdam (Italian for "The two cats o' nine tails ... and a half in Amsterdam") is a 1972 Italian comedy film written and directed by Osvaldo Civirani (here credited as Richard Kean). The title spoofs the Dario Argento's giallo The Cat o' Nine Tails (Il gatto a nove code in Italian).

Synopsis

The journalist Ciccio and the photographer Franco are looking for a scoop, as they stumble by chance in the murder of a Dutch diamond dealer of which Franco immortalizes the fateful moment. Thanks to this event the couple get an engagement and a transfer to Amsterdam to investigate the murder.

Franco and Ciccio are two street artists of Sicily; after failing in a lot of debt, they are forced to flee to America. Don Franco and Don Ciccio are the respective pastors of the two principal parishes of a village in Sicily. The two have different ideals about society, and so they always fight by way: Don Franco is a priest more open to the social level, which supports the protests of the young communists, while Don Ciccio is a severe priest of the old school, who speaks in Latin and who hates communists protesters. One day the two bitterly quarrel over a disputed land of the city: Don Franco would create there a public park, with the support of the communists, while Don Ciccio would fain give it to the municipality for other interests. So the two fathers decide to settle the matter with a game of football.
