The film tells the story of an Indian police team on a mission to escort an accused terrorist from a small town in Maharashtra to Mumbai.
The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Prakash Raj, Tusshar Kapoor, Atul Kulkarni, Jaya Pradha, Tanuja, and Aishwarya Rai. Lara Dutta appears as a bar dancer in the song Aisa Jadoo. The film released on 23 January 2004 to widespread critical acclaim and went on to become one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of the year.
Manish Gajjar wrote for the BBC, "This electrifying piece of Bollywood celluloid has all the ingredients of an edge of the seat thriller. Veteran actor, Amitabh Bachchan takes full credit for his work in this film. He relives his angry young man image once again. Technically, Khakee excels in the action sequences, set designs and innovative camera movements." The film was later remade in Telugu as Satyameva Jeyathe.
Synopsis
Maharashtra Police seizes a large quantity of arms from a house in the communal riot torn town of Chandangarh. The house belongs to Dr. Iqbal Ansari (Atul Kulkarni), a Muslim doctor. The police conclude that he is an agent for ISI, and is responsible for engineering the riots. Ansari is arrested as per Prevention of Terrorism Act, 2002 and is set to be presented before a special court in Mumbai. However, the convoy of police vehicles transporting Ansari from Chandangarh is ambushed by an unknown group. The police team somehow manages to secure him, but suffers heavy casualties. The unknown group, presumed to be terrorists, seems determined to free Ansari from the government's custody.Actors

Happy American bachelor Raj (Abhishek Bachchan) reluctantly attends his cousin's wedding in Mumbai where he finds himself pushed towards marriage by his overzealous uncle (Satish Shah). Bhagat Singh was born in British India in 1907. As a child he witnessed numerous atrocities committed on fellow Indians by their British rulers, who came to trade under the guise of the East India Company, but ended up controlling most of the nation, and permitting tyrants such as General Reginald Dyer to massacre thousands of innocent men, women and children in Jallianwala Bagh. As a child he was impressed by Mahatma Gandhi, especially his call to launch the non-cooperation movement, which led to thousands of people burning British-made clothing, giving up school, college studies, and government jobs — only to be let down by Gandhi when he called off the movement. Undaunted, Bhagat Singh (Ajay Devgan) decided to be a revolutionary, starting with getting into petty fights, then as a grown-up joining the Hindustan Republic Association. His father, Kishan, paid Rs.60,000/- and bailed him out, so that he could get him to run a dairy-farm and get married to a girl named Mannavali (Amrita Rao) .

The story begins with Col. Krishnakant and his ten men who were sacked from the Indian army as they failed in the China Gate mission. After witnessing the brutal slaying of her Forest Officer father, Sunder Rajan, at the hands of dreaded dacoit Jageera, Sandhya goes to Col. and asks for his assistance in bringing an end to Jageera's rule in the Devdurg region. Krishnakant agrees to assist her and summons ten of his fellow officers and subordinates to assist him in this mission. They assemble at Devdurg with the necessary ammunitions and arms to combat Jageera, not realizing that Jageera has influence over the local police detachment, who will prevent Krishnakant and his men to possess any guns and weapons. This does not deter the men, and they continue to stay on in Devdurg and gain the confidence of the villagers. What the villagers do not know that Krishnakant and his men had all been dishonorably discharged from the army for cowardice and retreating when attacked by the enemy.

The story is based on the concept of karma and bad deeds. Viren Sahai (Amitabh Bachchan), is an underworld don who rules over India.
