Knuckle is a 2012 film about the secretive world of Irish Traveller bare-knuckle boxing. The film was made in stages over 12 years.

Synopsis

This film follows 12 years in the lives of three Irish Traveller families (Joyces, Nevins, and Quinns) and their bitter feuds and fights. The film explores the reasons why they hold these fights and explores in-depth these families' secret life, which is barely known to outsiders of the Traveller community. The real reason for the feud among the families is never revealed, as they will not talk about it to outsiders.

This documentary is a self-discovery of a matured Mike Tyson, who reflects on his highly controversial and publicly viewed life. It begins with clips of 20-year-old Tyson's convincing World Boxing Council Heavyweight Championship win over Trevor Berbick, then explores the fighter's upbringing and motivation. It is revealed that he had a fractured family life and difficult childhood in Brownsville, Brooklyn, where his crimes led him to Tryon School for Boys in Johnstown, New York. A father-son relationship with his first professional trainer and only father figure in his life, Cus D'Amato, is expressed as Tyson chokes back tears. He reveals his vulnerability when he relates the fear that he felt when D'Amato died in 1985. Tyson was only 19 years old when he lost the one real parental figure in his life.

The documentary takes Skreslet and fellow summiter Pat Morrow back to Base Camp, where they recall the traumatic and triumphant events of 1982. Pat Morrow has contracted a mystery illness that might prevent his return to the mountain. As part of the climbing party, Laurie Skreslet has brought his estranged nineteen-year-old daughter, Natasha. She has hardly seen her father in ten years. The Climb follows the events leading up to the 1982 Canadian climb of Everest. It examines the drama of the journey up the mountain as Skreslet and Morrow piece together using their emotional recollections of the events that happened twenty-five years ago, while on the trip back to Nepal and Everest's famous base camp. The film shows events as they unfolded on the mountain by using archival footage shot in 1982 while being narrated by Skreslet and Morrow.
