Synopsis
Christine is a wheelchair-using woman with severe multiple sclerosis. In order to escape her isolation, she makes a journey to Lourdes, the iconic site of Catholic pilgrimage in the Pyrenees Mountains, along with other people with varying disabilities. During her stay she begins to regain the use of her limbs. This is in contrast with others, who appear to have stronger faith than Christine but experience only slight, passing improvement. Her fellow pilgrims are eager to call it a miracle; however, as the pilgrimage draws to a close, exactly how accurate a claim this is becomes uncertain.Actors

Clara, (Sylvie Testud), works in a birdshop. She is concerned about her deaf-mute daughter Anna, (Camille Gauthier), whom she is bringing up on her own. She has never spoken a single word. Clara herself is illiterate. Ever since her grandmother Baba, whom she adored, had been the victim of an attack when she was reading her a story, she has always refused to learn to read and write. Now that the silence of her daughter Anna is causing her to be bullied by her peers, Clara feels obliged to withdraw her from her school, and to enrol her in a school for the deaf-mute, run by Vincent, (Sergi López). Vincent, the principal, suggests giving his new pupil particular classes to teach her Sign Language, and so facilitate Anna's integration.

Laura, played by Fanny Valette, is a Jewish philosophy student who has put Kantian reasoning above all emotions, including love. In the film, Laura's interaction with Djamel, an Muslim coworker played by Hédi Tillette de Clermont-Tonerre, exposes how Laura struggles to live by her rationalist principles as she succumbs into her feelings for Djamel. Jacques est un grand reporter respecté travaillant pour un grand quotidien régional français. Journaliste talentueux et impartial, il vit reclus au retour d'un reportage en Syrie au cours duquel son photographe et ami a été tué. Il est alors contacté par un membre de la Congrégation pour la doctrine de la foi du Vatican lui demandant d'effectuer une mission particulière : faire partie d'une commission canonique chargée d'enquêter sur plusieurs apparitions de la Vierge Marie dont a été témoin une jeune fille, Anna, dans une petite ville des Alpes françaises. Alors que des milliers de pèlerins viennent se recueillir sur le lieu des apparitions présumées, Jacques rencontre la sensible et dévote Anna, dont la foi est confrontée aux nombreuses sollicitations qu'elle reçoit. Il découvre progressivement les motivations cachées et les pressions à l’œuvre autour d'Anna, et les mystères qui entourent les apparitions. Il est également confronté aux opinions opposées au sein de la commission. Et l'enquête qu'il mène va bouleverser ses croyances.
