Mammootty plays Malik Bhai, a wholesale fish auctioneer in Mattanchery market. An English lady, Michelle (Caroline Bech), arrives seeking help but the two have confusion in communicating.
Film Review site Indiaglitz says Manglish is a watchable family entertainer. Manglish grossed a total of 2.15 crore in its first 5 days of its release. After a week it had earned 3.50 crore.
Manglish (Malayalam + English) is a derived word in popular culture of Kerala for speaking Malayalam incorporated with English.

Annan Thambi is the story of twin brothers, Appu and Achu (both played by Mammootty). Appu is a talkative conman who always finds himself in trouble. While Achu, a mute, is nicer than his brother, he draws a dagger on Appu due to misunderstandings created by the villain Govindan (Siddique), who is masquerading as his friend. The story is set in 1988. Haider (Indrajith) who works for Mumbai underworld develops a plan to steal diamonds from a racket run inside a textile store in Cherupuzha. Chirammal Enashu Francis, a.k.a. Pranchiyettan (Mammootty), is a successful businessman based in Thrissur. He is a devotee of Saint Francis of Assisi and often has imaginary conversations with the saint. His ancestors were rice traders, but he has grown beyond the small rice shop to expand his business into jewellery, real estate, finance, shopping complexes and lot more. He is called Ari ("rice") Pranchi by everybody, citing his ancestors' business as a colloquial taunt. The film deals with how Pranchi tries to get a good name and what changes that brings to his life.
