Add to a movie listMe and My Gal is a 1932 American Pre-Code motion picture, drama and romantic comedy starring Spencer Tracy and Joan Bennett, directed by Raoul Walsh, and released by the Fox Film Corporation. The film tells the story of jaunty young policeman Danny Dolan (Tracy), who falls in love with waterfront cafe waitress Helen Riley (Bennett). The picture flopped, setting an all-time low attendance record at the Roxy Theatre in New York City.
Bennett and Tracy made She Wanted a Millionaire that same year, with their billing reversed (Bennett billed over Tracy), and also played a married couple two decades later in Father of the Bride and Father's Little Dividend.
It was remade as a B film in 1940 by Fox as Pier 13, directed by Eugene Forde.
Synopsis
In this wisecracking comedy, Dan Dolan (Spencer Tracy) is a cop whose beat is the New York waterfront. Dan has a soft spot for Helen Riley (Joan Bennett), a sharp-tongued waitress at a cheap diner, while her scatter-brained sister Kate (Marion Burns) is in love with Duke Castage (George Walsh), a sleazy low-level mobster. While Duke makes a play for Kate, both Helen and Dan know that he's bad news, and Dan wants to put Duke behind bars before he can break Kate's heart. Me and My Gal was directed by Raoul Walsh, one of the great craftsmen of the studio system -- and also the brother of George Walsh, who plays the villain.Actors

Pendant la guerre, Jack Bartlett, un journaliste, interviewe le Président Woodrow Wilson sur l'importance de la quatrième campagne des Liberty Loans. Dave Henderson se fait dépouiller de son héritage de 100 000 $ par deux escrocs, Martin Tydeman et Bokky Sharvan. As described in a film magazine review, after Vania Lazar is betrayed and debauched by Grand Duke Valanoff, she leaves Russia with no thought except to prey upon the sex that has made her what she is. Then comes the war, and she sees wounded Russians being taken to the hospital. In one room, she finds Prince Valanoff, the son of her betrayer, and with her wiles she wins his love and then his name. When the Grand Duke comes to visit, his son the Prince is absent. As described in a film magazine, Jim Kelly (Walsh), a resident of New York City's Ninth Ward and a bricklayer, is one of the men selected in the first draft for World War I. He goes forth eagerly and his ability and daring soon win him a high rank in the army. Harold Whitley (Bailey), a wealthy idler and tango king, trains for a captaincy and wins it. His unfitness for such a position is soon discovered and he is reduced in rank. Jim's regiment goes to Europe and with the downing of six German airplanes and several minor victories to his credit he becomes the "Pride of New York." Pat, a young woman of New York's millionaire class, has gone to Europe to become a nurse. She meets Jim and becomes interested in him because of his bravery and patriotism. The Cisco Kid is a gay caballero whose flair for dramatic thievery and penchant for dangerous trysts keep him just one step ahead of Sgt. Mickey Dunn. The Kid's reputation has preceded him when he approaches the local stagecoach, and he needs to fire only two warning shots to wrest the Wells Fargo box from the driver. His infatuation with a Mexican girl named Tonia María exposes him to near-capture, because of the señorita's double-dealing association with Dunn. Eventually, a showdown becomes imminent, and the Kid exacts a final revenge by framing Tonia so that Dunn shoots her by accident, while the Kid rides laughing off into the sunset.
