Miss Bala, ou Miss Balle au Québec, est un thriller d'action américano-mexicain réalisé par Catherine Hardwicke et sorti en 2019.
C'est un remake du film mexicain du même titre, réalisé par Gerardo Naranjo en 2011, lui même librement inspiré d'un fait réel concernant une ancienne miss, Laura Zúñiga, et son implication dans un trafic de drogue en 2008.
Bien que la performance de Gina Rodriguez ait reçu des critiques positives, le film en lui-même a reçu un accueil négatif de la part de la presse. Au box-office, il réussit à récolter assez pour rembourser son budget mais engendre extrêmement peu de bénéfices supplémentaires, faisant de lui un échec financier.
Synopsis
Gloria Fuentes, une maquilleuse faisant carrière à Los Angeles, rend visite à sa meilleure amie Suzu à Tijuana au Mexique pour l'aider à se préparer pour le concours de beauté Miss Baja California. C'est un grand pas pour Gloria qui refusait d'y retourner depuis la mort de ses parents.Actors

In 1949 Los Angeles, gangster Mickey Cohen wants to control all organized crime and argues with local mobster Jack Dragna that they should not allow the East coast mafia to run the town. In New York City, Nick Cassidy (Sam Worthington) checks in to the Roosevelt Hotel under the false name of Walker, goes to his hotel room on the 21st floor, and climbs on the ledge, apparently ready to commit suicide. The crowd below calls the police, with Dante Marcus (Titus Welliver) controlling the crowd, while Jack Dougherty (Edward Burns) tries to talk with Nick. However, Nick will only speak to negotiator Lydia Mercer (Elizabeth Banks), who is on a leave of absence, after failing to save a suicidal policeman. Lydia arrives at the hotel room and manages to acquire Nick's fingerprints from a cigarette they share. Dougherty has them analyzed and discovers that Nick is an ex-policeman, arrested for stealing the $40 million Monarch diamond from businessman David Englander (Ed Harris). Nick was given a 25-year sentence but escaped from the Sing Sing Correctional Facility one month earlier, after being allowed to attend his father's funeral. Nick, however, maintains his innocence and accuses Englander of framing him for the theft of the diamond, as Englander lost his fortune and was too proud to sell the diamond.

The main hero, Danila Bagrov (Sergey Bodrov Jr.), comes to Moscow because he wants to study medicine and become a doctor.
