Misunderstood is a 1984 film directed by Jerry Schatzberg, based on the 19th-century novel by Florence Montgomery. This film stars Henry Thomas as a young boy who struggles with family, friends, and relationships after his mother's death.

It is a remake of the 1966 Italian version, Incompreso, which starred Anthony Quayle.

Synopsis

Ned Rawley est un armateur américain établi en Tunisie où son entreprise prospère et l'accapare. Il vit dans une magnifique villa avec ses deux fils, Miles et Andrew, dont s'occupe une gouvernante nouvellement arrivée car leur mère vient de décéder dans un hôpital à l'étranger. Le père décide de cacher cette tragédie au plus jeune, inventant un voyage prolongé de sa mère.
