It is based on a reporter's article about the life of Joey Coyle, an unemployed longshoreman in Philadelphia who, on February 26, 1981, found $1.2 million in the middle of the street after it had fallen out of the back of an armored car. The screenplay, written by Menéndez, Tom Musca and Carol Sobieski, is based on an article by Mark Bowden. The film stars John Cusack as Coyle, and features a supporting cast that includes Debi Mazar, Michael Madsen, Benicio del Toro, Michael Rapaport, James Gandolfini, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Maury Chaykin, Currie Graham and Fionnula Flanagan.
The real Coyle committed suicide less than one month before the film was released.
Synopsis
Joey (John Cusack) is an unemployed longshoreman who finds a bag full of money that fell out of the back of an armored car. Joey forces his friend Kenny Kozlowski (Michael Rapaport) to drive Kenny's car in the lake to hide the tire tracks. Unknown to them, a local boy witnesses them doing the crime. Joey tells Kenny that he's not going to turn the money in and will keep it for himself. Joey refuses to tell his family about it. The police are investigating the missing money and the local boy tells them about the car. The police find the car in the lake and trace it back to Kenny's house. Later, the police head to Kenny's house. During that, Kenny's dad beats his son with a belt and Kenny tells the police that Joey took the money. The neighbors overhear this and word spreads around the city that Joey took the money. Joey and his girlfriend head to the airport to leave the country, until they get arrested.Actors

Jaime Escalante becomes a math teacher at James A. Garfield High School in Eastern Los Angeles. The school is full of hispanic students from working class families who are way below their grade level in terms of academic skills and have a lot of social problems. Escalante seeks to change the school culture to help the students excel in academics. He soon realizes the untapped potential of his class and sets a goal of having the students taking AP Calculus by their senior year. Escalante instructs his class under the philosophy of "ganas", roughly translating into "desire" or "motivation". The students begin taking summer classes in advanced mathematics with Escalante having to withstand the cynicism of other faculty, who feel the students are not capable enough. As the students struggle with the lower expectations they face in society, Escalante helps them overcome the adversity and pass the AP Calculus exams. To his dismay, the Educational Testing Service questions the success of the students, insisting there is too much overlap in their errors and suggests the students cheated. Escalante defends his students, feeling that the allegations are based more on racial and economic perceptions. He offers to have the students retake the test months later and the students succeed in passing the test again despite only having a day to prepare, dispelling the concerns of cheating.

Une attaque suicide tue 15 personnes dans un supermarché de Kansas City. L'enquête conclut que les kamikazes ont été aidés par des passeurs de clandestins à la frontière américano-mexicaine, une région aux mains des trafiquants de drogues. En mission à Djibouti et en Somalie, Matt Graver est à nouveau envoyé dans cette région, pour une mission orchestrée dans l'ombre par la CIA. Matt fait une nouvelle fois appel à Alejandro Gillick, le sicaire avec lequel il a lutté contre le cartel de Juárez. Sous les ordres non officiels du Secrétaire à la Défense, Matt doit créer une guerre entre les cartels pour que ces derniers s'autodétruisent. Après avoir assassiné un avocat du gang des Matamoros à Mexico, Gillick et Matt kidnappent Isabela, la fille du chef de cartel Carlos Reyes, lors d'une opération sous fausse bannière. Toutefois, les choses ne se passent pas comme prévu et Gillick se retrouve rapidement seul à devoir lutter pour sa survie et celle d'Isabela, abandonnés par le gouvernement américain et traqués par les cartels mexicains.
