Moving Targets () is a 2004 Hong Kong action crime film starring Nicholas Tse, Edison Chen, Simon Yam and Gillian Chung as the main leads. With Michelle Yim, Roy Chow, Lam Suet and Kent Tong in main supporting roles. Directed, written and produced by Wong Jing, the film is based on popular 1980 TVB drama series Police Cadet '84.

"Moving Targets" was released in Mainland China under the title "Young Detective 青年干探" with an estimated box office gross of ¥3,000,000 RMB. Movie rights in Mainland China was distributed by "Beijing Poly-bona Film Distribution Co., Ltd.".

Synopsis

Cheung Wai-kit (Nicholas Tse) and Ngai Fung "Fit Lo" (Edison Chen) are best friends and two of Hong Kong's top young cops. After foiling a robbery attempt they are promoted to the Narcotic units led by hot-headed police chief Cheung Tit-Man (Simon Yam). Tit-Man is actually Kit's dad, who left him and his mother (Michelle Mai) after shooting her years ago. Kit sees Tit-Man as an enemy and is not so thrilled with having to work under him.

Before his wife was murdered, Inspector Mann Cheung (Simon Yam) was a model to young detectives. However, with his wife's death, he was indulged in deep sorrow and became downhearted and dispirited. Not only was his detective image affected, his relationship with his daughter Yan (Wada Hiromi) also went downhill. The new superintendent Koo Kwok Keung (Fala Chen) assigned him to take charge of a series of kidnapping cases. Several triad leaders were kidnapped, held at ransom and was murdered. The modus operandi was violent, brutal, professional and efficient. Mann soon discovers that the gang of kidnappers were formers members of the Special Duties Unit, led by Samo Ho (Michael Miu) and his girlfriend Can (Qu Ying), a former member of the VIP Protection Unit, who were familiar with the police modus operandi and were able to escape from apprehension. Sam also discovers that Mann is after him. A duel to the death between the two elites of the police force is ensured.

Lau found out that the three of them cheated him and he blackmails Mandy to help him go to prison and interrogate his former subordinate, Robinson Shun (Kwan Hoi-san), who stole a total of HK$300 million treasury bond from him. If Mandy manages to have Robinson tell him the whereabouts of the bond, Lau promises to pay Mandy HK$10 million as a reward. To get Mandy to prison, Lily sues him for sexual harassment. However, due to lack of evidence, the judge does not adopt the case. Mandy later gets himself to prison by throwing his shoe at the judge and he was sentenced to prison for a month for contempt of court and assaulting the judge.
