Nemesis is a 2010 German drama film, marking the last work of Ulrich Mühe and the feature film debut of writer/director Nicole Mosleh. It tells the story of an estranged couple, played by the late Mühe and Susanne Lothar, who were a couple in real life. The film was shot in 2006 in Italy. While the film was in post-production, Ulrich Mühe was diagnosed with cancer and subsequently died before the film was finished.
A legal battle with his widow prevented a release of the film for three years. It premiered at the Hof International Film Festival in Germany in 2010.

Synopsis
Claire (S. Lothar) and Robert (U. Mühe) seem to have a perfect life. The two German ex-patriates spend most of their time in a house they own in the beautiful and remote countryside in Italy. But when Claire's sister gets murdered in the very same house, the traumatic event threatens their relationship. Disappointment, fear and resentment they swept under the rug for years, resurface. Claire and Robert are forced to confront the disintegration of their marriage. In a horrendous last night together, a long kept secret that has suffocated their relationship emerges.Actors

This film opens with a home video of the slaughter with a captive bolt pistol of a pig on a European farm. The video rewinds to play the slaughter in slow motion, which emphasizes the hand-held barrel against the pig's fore-skull and the cartridge explosion. A party centered on a game called Pilot and Passengers is broken up by Georg and Anna, when they return home while the party is in progress. The host of the party, Eva, is their daughter who lives in another part of town and who has, it turns out in questioning of Benny after the incident, taken advantage of the planned absence of Georg and Anna to host the impromptu party in their home. While watching a newscast, Georg and Anna discuss the money Eva won in the pyramid scheme she was promoting at the party. In a locker room at school, Benny encourages his friends to take positions in his own Pilot and Passengers game.

In October 1956, Ronnie, a Dutch woman married to a Canadian clergyman, is on a package tour of Israel. In 1984 East Germany, Stasi Captain (Hauptmann) HGW XX/7, Gerd Wiesler, suggests to his superiors that he begin to spy on the playwright Georg Dreyman. Wiesler and his team bug the apartment, set up surveillance equipment in an attic and begin reporting Dreyman's activities. Dreyman had escaped state scrutiny due to his pro-Communist views and international recognition. Wiesler soon learns the real reason behind the surveillance: Minister of Culture Bruno Hempf covets Dreyman's girlfriend, actress Christa-Maria Sieland, and is trying to eliminate Dreyman as a romantic rival. While Wiesler's superior, Lt. Col. Anton Grubitz, sees an opportunity for advancement, Wiesler, an idealist, is horrified, asking Grubitz "Is this why we joined?" Minister Hempf coerces Sieland into having sex with him by exploiting her vulnerability as an insecure actress whose livelihood is dependent on state approval of stagecraft. After discovering Sieland's relationship with Hempf (through Wiesler's covert intervention), Dreyman implores her not to meet him again. Sieland flees to a nearby bar where Wiesler, posing as a fan, urges her to be true to herself. She returns home and reconciles with Dreyman, rejecting Hempf.
