Oru Vadakkan Selfie (English: A Northern Selfie) is a 2015 Malayalam comedy thriller road movie directed by G. Prajith and scripted by Vineeth Sreenivasan. The film features Nivin Pauly, Manjima Mohan, Aju Varghese, Neeraj Madhav and Vineeth Sreenivasan. Music is composed by Shaan Rahman.

The film released on March 27 with positive reviews and became one of the biggest grosser of the year and some news medias and Kerala Film Producers Association called it the first successful Malayalam film of 2015. The film grossed nearly ₹21 crore (US$3 2 million) from theatres against a budget of ₹4.5 crore (US$680 000).

Synopsis

The story is set in an engineering college, where Umesh (Nivin Pauly) is studying. Umesh is a carefree engineering student, who has 42 back papers to clear. His close pals are Shaji (Aju Varghese) and Thankaprasad (Neeraj Madhav). Wanting to find a quick way to earn money and fame, he decides to try his hand at movies, and wants to assist none other than the renowned South-Indian director Gautham Vasudev Menon. His friend Shaji suggests that he make a short film and upload it on the internet. But the result is utter failure, after losing the camera in an accident. Umesh’s father (Vijayraghavan) orders him to help him to run his small shop. To avoid such a bleak future, Umesh catches the next train to (Chennai). On the train, he sees Daisy (Manjima Mohan), his neighbour back home. Umesh tries to woo Daisy throughout the journey, but miserably fails. He lies to his friends that they are having an affair, tricks her into posing for a selfie with him, and sends it to Shaji.

Kunjiraman (Vineeth Sreenivasan), nephew of Well-done Vasu(Mamukkoya), plans to marry his daughter Thankamani. All plans are thwarted by his dim-witted cousin brother Laalu (Dhyan Sreenivasan). Villagers superstitiously believe that it was Kunjiraman's actions that brings the subsequent problems and curses to Desam. Later the issues are solved by a chain of events. Both Laalu and Kuttan are left to the short end of stick with their plotting's.
