Synopsis
L'action se déroule à Orvieto. Au cours d'une représentation théâtrale, Giovanni Lo Verso tombe amoureux de Roberta qui joue sur scène le rôle d'un soldat. Giovanni arrive à la conquérir et l'épouse l'année suivante. Le temps passe sans que les époux aient pu consommer le mariage. Roberta découvrant son penchant masculin décide de se faire opérer pour devenir un vrai soldat. Néanmoins, son mari Giovanni reste amoureux même après le changement de sexe et tente de l'embrasser en public déchaînant la colère de la foule qui veut le lincher.Actors

At the end of World War II, the promise of jobs and a chance to start a new life induced tens of thousands of young Italians to join the post-war immigration to Australia. In 1971, having lived about twenty-five years Down Under, one of those immigrants, middle-aged Amedeo Battipaglia, a lineman in the remote New South Wales settlement bearing the (fictional) name of Bun Bun Ga, several kilometers from the outback city of Broken Hill, is about to meet Carmela, his prospective bride from Rome, with whom he has been corresponding. Each of them misrepresented facts to the other — Carmela, a very attractive woman in her early thirties, is a semiliterate prostitute seeking an opportunity to get away from her abusive pimp, with the letters to Amedeo ghostwritten by her friend Rosalba, while Amedeo, feeling inadequate about his ordinary appearance, sent Carmela a photograph, taken about twenty years earlier, of himself between two Italian immigrant friends, Giuseppe Bartoni and Bampo. The arrow in the photo, however, is over Giuseppe because, when Amedeo visited his tall, handsome friend for advice, Giuseppe erased the arrow over Amedeo's head and pencilled it over his own head.

Dr. Guido Tersilli finds himself in the hospital for a nervous breakdown. In fact, this is due to the disproportionate number of borrowed that the doctor had at his studio. However, a few months before this event Guido was a different person. He was just a simple pediatrician of Rome who performed a few visits for children. But the mother planned for him a great future as a doctor, and taught him to play dirty hospital where Guido worked to gain more customers can be borrowed. Mutual is an association that gave the Italians the State contribution for care by doctors, in Italy the period of maximum growth was precisely that of the sixties in which doctors and primary clinics trying to accumulate for their many customers who had to scrape together more money mutual. Tersilli from a simple pediatrician starts to become a real doctor raking here and there with mutual customers. The turning point occurs when Guido is called by a rich lady to visit her husband. Guido takes just a chance to woo the woman, although he was already engaged to another girl to bring her into his list of patients borrowed. So Guido, under the envy of colleagues, start earning with the rich lady countless customers borrowed touching the 2000 patients. However Guido fails for a long time to heal all the stress due to the ongoing work of the cause exhaustion. In the hospital Guido finds himself face to face with his enemies colleagues who decide to take care of him but stealing a portion of the best clients with mutual. Then Guido Tersilli continue to see patients but staying in bed and talking by phone.

Efisio is supposed to go Sardinia for killing a man whose remarks have besmirched the honour of another family. But before Efisio can comply, the targeted man gets murdered by another killer. Still Efisio is credited for the assassination. Later his wife turns out being pregrant and it is doubted whether it is Efisio's child because he has allegedly been in Sardinia at around the time when the child was probably fathered. Efisio's honour is questioned by a local mob and he takes drastic measures to restore his reputation.

1/ Une journée décisive de Dino Risi : Raganelli compte bien profiter d'un voyage d'entreprise pour dévoiler sa flamme à Gabriella. Celle-ci se montre réceptive, mais à force de tergiversations et reculades Raganelli va se retrouver entre les bras d'une autre, dont il n'est pas du tout amoureux. 2/ Le Complexe de l'esclave nubienne de Franco Rossi : Apprenant que sa femme à jadis tenu un petit rôle d'esclave nubienne dénudée dans un peplum, le puritain professeur Beozi tente de réparer cet impair en récupérant le film de la scène en question. La scène ayant été censurée, il doit aller le chercher dans les archives de la Censure. 3/ Guillaume « Dents longues » de Luigi Filippo D'Amico : Une chaîne de télévision organise un casting pour sélectionner le nouveau présentateur du journal télévisé. Bertone réussi tous les tests, mais sa denture chevaline pousse le jury à vouloir l'éliminer sans lui en révéler la cause. Bertone se révèle inébranlable.

Otello Celletti (Alberto Sordi) is an unemployed ex-soldier from a small town in Latium. Since the end of the war, he has been living with his family and father at the expense of his brother-in-law, Nando. One day he receives a letter that says he has been given a job as carrier in the town's markets, despite his request to join the local police. Unwilling to accept the new job, he manages to meet the town's Mayor (Vittorio De Sica) and get the position he sought for. As a policeman, Otello can finally take revenge on all who had been teasing him during the post-war period when he was a jobless man, but soon starts having trouble with his duties. Uncapable of directing the traffic properly at a rather busy crossing, he is moved to a peripheral area where his tasks are much easier and gets here the occasion he has always been waiting for: one day he is told by a man passing by that a car got stuck not far from there and that the car is no less than Sylva Koscina's (in the role of herself).
