Parasite (hangeul : 기생충 ; RR : Gisaengchung), est un film sud-coréen coécrit et réalisé par Bong Joon-ho, sorti en 2019.

Il est présenté en compétition officielle au Festival de Cannes 2019, où il remporte la Palme d'or à l'unanimité. Il est le premier film coréen à obtenir cette récompense. Le film est un succès critique et au box-office.

Synopsis

Toute la famille de Ki-taek est au chômage. Un jour, leur fils réussit à se faire recommander pour donner des cours particuliers d’anglais chez les Park, une famille richissime dont le mode de vie est en tous points opposé au leur. C’est le début d’un engrenage incontrôlable.

In 2014, an attempt to counteract global warming through climate engineering results in an ice age that extinguishes all life except the inhabitants of the Snowpiercer, a massive train powered by a perpetual motion engine that travels a globe-spanning track, created by the transportation magnate Wilford. In October 1986, a young woman is found raped and murdered in a ditch near a field. Soon after, another woman is found raped and murdered in a field. Local detective Park Doo-man, not having dealt with such a serious case before, is overwhelmed; key evidence is improperly collected, the police's investigative methods are suspect, and their forensic technology is near non-existent. Detective Seo Tae-yoon is sent from Seoul to assist them; their methods clash and he is unable to convince them they are dealing with a serial killer until his predictions of another murder come true. A female police officer realizes that a local radio station is always requested to play a particular song during the nights the murders are committed.

Paul Hackett, a word processor, meets Marcy Franklin in a local cafe in New York. They discuss their common interest in Henry Miller. Marcy leaves Paul her number and informs him that she lives with a sculptor named Kiki Bridges, who makes and sells plaster of Paris paperweights resembling cream cheese bagels. Later in the night, under the pretense of buying a paperweight, Paul visits Marcy, taking a cab to her apartment. On his way to visit Marcy, a $20 bill is blown out the window of the cab, leaving him with only some spare pocket change. The cab driver is furious that he cannot pay, thereby beginning the first in a long series of misadventures for Paul that turn hostile through no fault of his own. At the apartment Paul meets the sculptor Kiki and Marcy, and comes across a collection of photographs and medications which imply that Marcy is severely disfigured from burns on her legs and torso. As a result of this implication, and as a result of a strained conversation with Marcy, Paul abruptly slips out of the apartment.
