Synopsis
Originaire du Maroc, Maya, une jeune styliste de la maison de haute couture Ritz, vit à Paris depuis vingt ans avec des titres de séjour et s'est parfaitement intégrée à la vie française. À l'approche d'un défilé de mode, l'exigeant et impitoyable patron de la maison de couture met en concurrence Maya et sa collègue Emma : la meilleure des deux stylistes emportera un contrat de travail à durée indéterminée.Actors

Le film narre l’histoire vraie d'Hibat Tabib — joué par son fils, l'humoriste Kheiron — et de son épouse Fereshteh — incarnée par Leïla Bekhti. Jeunes Iraniens, militants pour la démocratie, ils contestent le régime du shah, Hibat passe sept ans dans les geôles du shah. Après la prise du pouvoir par l'ayatollah Khomeini, Hibat et Fereshteh constatent qu'un tyran a succédé à un autre, et sont contraints de fuir leur pays en 1984. Le film raconte leur vie en Iran dans la clandestinité, leur fuite dangereuse puis leur exil en France. Après leur arrivée en Seine-Saint-Denis, ils s'intègrent et s'impliquent dans la vie associative locale. Leur fils s'oriente vers les métiers du spectacle et deviendra l'humoriste Kheiron.

Claude Verneuil, a Gaullist notary, and his wife Marie, a Catholic bourgeois from Chinon, are parents of four daughters: Isabelle, Odile, Ségolène, and Laure. The three eldest are already married to men, each one of a different religion and a different 'ethnic' origin: Isabelle married Rashid Ben Assem, a Muslim Arab, Odile married David Benichou, a Sephardi Jew, and Ségolène married Chao Ling, a Chinese man. The Verneuils pretend to accept their sons-in-laws but have had a hard time hiding their comfortability in accepting people into the family from outside the community. A family meeting is spoiled because of the awkwardness and clichés about race and religion, stated as much by the father as by the sons-in-laws who even exchange insulting communitarist views to and about each other.
