Synopsis
Pour l'anniversaire de son mari, Cynthia Monestier pense avoir trouvé le cadeau idéal : une concession pétrolière sur les bords de l'Orénoque. Cependant, son mari découvre rapidement qu'elle a été dupée par un escroc. Pour se refaire de ce mauvais « investissement », il espère que sa fille Patricia parviendra à convaincre le très riche Antoine, qui s'intéresse beaucoup à elle, de racheter la « fabuleuse » concession. Mais pour le plus grand malheur de son père, au même moment, Patricia a recruté un faux mari afin de se débarrasser de son fortuné soupirant.Actors

Antoine Brisebard, a famous comedy playwright, is struggling with financial difficulties and is preparing to sell his country villa to an English couple. What no one knows, however, is that Brisebard is actually a victim of blackmail since his wife Sylvie, a famous actress, is the daughter of a notorious robber-murderer. His extortionist is a malevolent criminal only known as Jo, who visits him often to pick up his hush money. But faced with certain ruin, Brisebard is preparing to do away with Jo once and for all, planning his deed under the guise of him trying to write the script for a crime play and consulting his friend, attorney Colas, for ideas of how to efficiently get rid of the body. He finally takes up the offer of one Tonelotti to erect a garden pavilion, whose foundation would provide the ideal hiding place for the corpse.

The gendarmes of St. Tropez are invited to New York City to a law enforcement conference. They are supposed to travel alone without spouses or children but Cruchot's daughter Nicole wants to go to New York as it may be her only chance. Cruchot forbids her to go because disobeying an order may hurt his career. As Cruchot travels to Le Havre by plane and train, Nicole gets a ride from her friend and sneaks onboard SS France and travels to America as a stowaway. During the journey Cruchot sees her hiding among the lifeboats but his captain convinces him that he is imagining things.
