The film was shot in Jerusalem under the direction of the Palestinian Director Hany Abu-Assad who is one of the first Palestinian film directors to reach Cannes Film Festival with his film, that was selected for screening at the International Critics' Week in 2002. The film was also screened at multiple film festivals world wide and received many excellent international reviews and awards. Rana's Wedding was able to present the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in an exceptional and compelling way, by using romance and dark comedy genres which left the audience astonished by this unique approach, that was able to portray, (through the couples marriage drama) a vivid image of a Palestinian's daily struggle, towards living a somewhat normal life.
Synopsis
The Film depicts a 17-year-old girl called Rana that is subjected to a crucial life-changing decision at a very young age. Because her father decides to leave Palestine and relocate to Egypt, due to the chaotic working and living conditions, to try and maintain a decent living to support his family. She wakes up one day and finds a letter from her father informing her about his difficult decision adding to it, he also involves her in his plans and provides her with two choices, either to travel with him to Egypt and carry on with her education there under his watchful eye, or stay in Palestine and get married to make sure that someone is guarding her in his absence. Although the options seem fairly reasonable, there is a twist, her father will only allow her to marry one of the men that he has mentioned on a list with the letter, because they are the most reputable and trustworthy men in Jerusalem, as well as, she has to take that critical decision just 10 hours before her father departs from Palestine.Actors

Omar (Adam Bakri) is a Palestinian baker who frequently climbs the West Bank barrier to visit his lover Nadia (Leem Lubany), a high-school girl whom he intends to marry. After being beaten and humiliated by a group of Israeli soliders, Omar and his childhood friends Tarek (Eyad Hourani) and Amjad (Samer Bisharat) stage an attack on an Israeli checkpoint. During the attack, Amjad fires the shot that kills an Israeli soldier. Later, Omar and his friends are subsequently pursued by the Israeli authorities. During the pursuit, Omar is captured and imprisoned by the Israeli authorities. Facing a lengthy prison term, Omar is forcibly coerced by an Israeli agent named Rami (Waleed Zuaiter) into working as a double agent for the Israeli authorities. Agent Rami secures Omar's release in exchange for the latter bringing Tarek to the authorities.

"The Courier" lives in a derelict flat where he has adopted a mouse as his pet. When he visits his old friend Stitch at his boxing gym, he is contacted by a stranger who tasks him with delivering a suitcase to a man known as "Evil Sivle". The stranger does not know where Sivle is and explains that the finding of this person is the actual task. It is made unequivocally clear that the courier is at no liberty to refuse this mission and shall expect his own death should he fail. After the client threatens their loved ones, Stitch sends his family into hiding. The courier starts by hacking into the FBI database. Set in the summer of 2000, Mona (Clara Khoury), a young Druze woman living at Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights, is about to marry a successful Syrian actor. Following the hostilities between Israel and Syria there is now the demilitarised UNDOF zone between occupied Golan and Syria observed by United Nations staff. Crossing of the zone is extremely rare as it is only granted by both sides under special circumstances. It has taken 6 months to obtain permission from the Israeli administration for Mona to leave the Golan. When Mona crosses she will not be able to return to her family on the Golan even to visit. Mona is a bit hesitant also because she doesn't know her husband-to-be.
