Synopsis
Aviophobe, la mère célibataire Katrina Ridgeway (Carmen Ejogo) conduit dans le long du désert du Texas avec sa fille Clara (Apollonia Pratt). Le pneu de sa voiture est crevé. Les voilà coincées dans le désert, où le réseau de portable ne passe guère. Alors qu’elle se prépare à réparer sa roue, sa fille se fait mordre par un crotale. Gravement blessée, Clara perd connaissance. Katrina regarde autour d’elle : elle voit un mobile home qu’elle n’avait étrangement pas vu. Elle y entre sans frapper, et apparait une femme (Debrianna Mansini) assez étrange lui disant qu’elle a de la chance : cette dernière a maintes fois soigné les morsures de serpent, et lui dit de réparer la voiture sans oublier de payer sa dette. Katrina retourne à sa voiture pour changer de pneu, et récupère sa fille pour l’emmener à l’hôpital dans la ville de Tulia. Deux choses étranges, la propriétaire a disparu et la morsure de serpent, également.Actors

The film takes place in Perth, and begins ten minutes after a meteor has collided with earth in the North Atlantic, leaving approximately twelve hours until the subsequent global firestorm reaches Western Australia. James and his lover, Zoe, are having sex for the last time at her beach house, where she reveals that she's pregnant with James' child. Not wanting to feel his inevitable death, James disregards Zoe's news and leaves for "the party to end all parties". After having his car stolen, he comes across two men who have kidnapped a young girl and are planning to rape her. James kills them, and rescues the girl. The girl, named Rose, explains that she was separated from her father in Malaga en route to her aunt's house in Roleystone. Not wanting to waste petrol, James instead plans to leave her with his sister and her children. But upon arriving, he finds his sister and her husband dead in the shower, and three crosses marking what appears to be his nieces' graves, in what is an apparent murder suicide.

An unnamed man is sitting in a psychiatrists office, being released from an insane asylum. Three years ago, he and three friends were mountain climbing, when an accident left them all suspended on one rope that was fraying. Being the closest to the top, the man chose to cut the rope to save himself and dropped the other three to their death. He says that he knows his actions were wrong, but that he had to make the choice he did if he wanted to survive. The doctor reminds him that while his actions are almost understandable, they resulted in death, something that is never acceptable. This causes the patient to become upset and more insistent that other people in the same situation would make the same choices as he did.
