The film, which had a budget of €10 million, was co-produced by Canal Plus and France 2 and distributed by Bac Films. Cassel plays Tony, a petty crook whose friend Jose falls for Clemence (Kruger), a rich woman, and wants to quit the life of crime. The film has the alternative English title Round Da Way.
Synopsis
À Condé-sur-Ginette, situé en Seine-Saint-Denis, Tony Merguez et José Frelate, deux potes de banlieue, sont prêts à partir en vacances d'été à Santo Rico, mais se font arnaquer et ne pourront pas passer leur vacances comme ils voulaient, et devront rester à Condé-sur-Ginette. Pour rattraper le coup, Tony va tenter de se faire de l'argent en travaillant pour Zoran, la brute épaisse du quartier. Ce dernier l'engage pour vendre de l'herbe. De son côté, José, hébergé chez sa cousine Jenny, se voit proposer par cette dernière de travailler pour le juge Santiépi, le père de Clémence, en effectuant des travaux dans le manoir de celui-ci. Pendant ce temps, Narbé et Sammy partent en vacances, mais pas à Santo Rico. À l'aéroport, les deux amis sont maîtrisés par les agents de sûreté, puis se retrouvent dans un parc aquatique.Actors

The film depicts approximately 19 consecutive hours in the lives of three friends in their early twenties from immigrant families living in an impoverished multi-ethnic French housing project (a ZUP – zone d'urbanisation prioritaire) in the suburbs of Paris, in the aftermath of a riot. Vinz (Vincent Cassel), who is Jewish, is filled with rage. He sees himself as a gangster ready to win respect by killing a cop, manically practising the role of Travis Bickle from the film Taxi Driver in the mirror secretly. His attitude towards police, for instance, is a simplified, stylized blanket condemnation, even to individual policemen who make an effort to steer the trio clear of troublesome situations. Hubert (Hubert Koundé) is an Afro-French boxer and small time drug dealer, the most mature of the three, whose gymnasium was burned in the riots. The quietest, most thoughtful and wisest of the three, he sadly contemplates the ghetto and the hate around him. He expresses the wish to simply leave this world of violence and hate behind him, but does not know how since he lacks the means to do so. Saïd – Sayid in some English subtitles – (Saïd Taghmaoui) is an Arab Maghrebi who inhabits the middle ground between his two friends' responses to their place in life.

Après s'être fait tabasser dans un bar, Mark Hogancamp est resté plusieurs jours dans le coma. À son réveil, il est frappé d'amnésie. Il va alors se créer un monde imaginaire, Marwen, un village belge fictif durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. La création de ce village en miniature devient une obsession. Comme une auto-thérapie, Mark invente des lieux imaginaires qu'il peuple avec des poupées représentant principalement des femmes de son entourage et de son passé. Dans ce monde imaginaire, son alter ego Captain Hogie côtoie ainsi la sorcière belge Deja Thoris, GI Julie ou encore Caralala. Tout cela lui redonne la force physique et mentale nécessaire pour le retour à la réalité : Mark doit se rendre au procès de ses agresseurs.

Le Docteur Knock est un ancien voyou devenu médecin qui débarque dans le petit village de Saint-Maurice afin d'y faire fortune selon une méthode particulière. When bad boy police officer Ousmane is involved in a car accident, he is mistaken for the assailant by his fellow police officers. The next day, the wife of a business mogul turns up nearby Ousmane's housing project. Ousmane draws connections between the two crimes and believes he is able to solve both crimes. In order to be heard by fellow police officers, Ousmane is forced to team up with visiting Parisian investigator Francois Monge, who has much more departmental clout.
