Synopsis
Alors qu'elle travaille comme serveuse dans un bar de Chicago, Stéphanie Wickers est témoin du meurtre de son directeur par Alek Ravik, membre d'une organisation criminelle. La peur au ventre, elle se fait passer pour morte mais décide, en parallèle, de changer de vie et d'identité en s'installant à Philadelphie. Elle se remarie, met au monde un fils et dirige un club de gym très prisé. Dix années se sont écoulées... mais elle est sur le point d'être rattrapée par son passé.Actors

Une enquêtrice interroge Devon Cavanor, une élève du lycée Powelton, au sujet des attouchements dont elle a été victime de la part de Gilbert Adkins, son professeur de chimie. Mariés depuis peu, Megan et Dave partagent une grande et belle demeure, équipée de tout le confort. Mais des difficultés financières viennent contrarier leur bonheur. A man named Alderson awakens in a cube-shaped room with a hatch in each wall, the ceiling and the floor, each of which leads to other cube-shaped rooms, identical except for their color. He enters an orange room and, without warning, is killed by a trap. In another such room, five people – Quentin, Worth, Holloway, Rennes, and Leaven – meet. None of them knows where they are or how they got there. Quentin informs the others that some rooms contain traps, which he learned by nearly being killed by one. Rennes assumes each trap is triggered by a motion detector and tests each room by throwing one of his boots in first. Leaven notices numbers inscribed in the passageways between rooms. Quentin, a policeman, recognizes Rennes as "the Wren", an escape artist renowned for getting out of jails. After declaring one room trap-free, Rennes enters and is killed when he is sprayed with acid. The others realize that there are different kinds of detectors, and Quentin deduces that this trap was triggered by heat.

Late one night, Donald Strachey is meeting a new client in a dark alley—one Paul Hale. Hale is very nervous, and before Strachey can calm what seems like paranoia, an incoming van approaches. Hale hands the private eye a $5,000 check for a retainer just before the speeding van separates the two. The next night, however, Paul Hale turns up dead. Both the coroner and Detective Bailey rule his death a suicide due to apparent evidence of alcohol and drugs nearby his body and in his bloodstream, but neither Donald nor Paul's mother are convinced of this. Phyllis Hale believes Paul was murdered. Strachey is determined to find out the truth about Paul's death. On the way to work the next morning, Strachey accosts someone who he believes is breaking into his office, but it turns out to be Kenny Kwon, who was fired during a confrontation between Strachey and his boss Nathan Zenck during a prior case. Kenny convinces Donald to hire him as Strachey Investigations' new office manager.
