C'est le quatrième et dernier volet de la série de téléfilms adaptée de la série littéraire Fleurs captives de Virginia C. Andrews. Ce quatrième volet est adapté du quatrième roman intitulé Les Racines du passé.
En France, la téléfilm a été diffusée pour la première fois le 4 septembre 2015 sur TF1 et au Québec, l'intégralité de la série de téléfilms est disponible depuis le 31 mars 2016 sur le service ICI TOU.TV.
Synopsis
Bart, désormais âgé de vingt-cinq ans, hérite de Foxworth, qu’il restaure entièrement. À l’occasion de son anniversaire, il organise une fête à Foxworth Hall et convie toute sa famille. Hélas, rien ne se passe comme prévu et son frère, Jory, se blesse gravement en dansant et devient paralysé. Cet accident donne libre cours à la jalousie et à la compétition qui anime les deux frères. Bart voit ressurgir ses vieux démons tandis qu’il essaie désespérément de résister à sa sœur adoptive, Cindy. Cathy et Christopher doivent à nouveau faire face à la malédiction qui s’abat sur leur famille depuis des générations et qui empêchent leurs enfants d’être, enfin, heureuxActors

Six years after Petals on the Wind, Cathy and Chris are happily married and live in California with Cathy's sons, Jory and Bart. Bart feels lonely and outshone by his brother and parents. One day, a woman dressed in all black moves into the mansion next door and invites Bart and Jory over for tea and cookies, and explains that she is rich but has no family except for her butler, John Amos. She takes a picture of them for keepsake, and asks them to visit her more. Jory declines but Bart agrees after she promises to give him anything he likes. Bart is curious why he has no other relatives and knows that Chris is his stepfather, but Jory says that their maternal grandmother is in a mental hospital and Chris' relatives are dead. Corrine lavishes gifts and treats on Bart, including a pet python, and tells him she is his grandmother, Corrine. John Amos gives Bart a journal belonged to his great-grandfather, Malcolm, and makes him promise to never reveal it to his family. Bart reads how Malcolm referred to beautiful women as sinful and degrading, which envelopes his mind.
