It was the last film to feature all five members of the Rat Pack due to Sinatra's falling out with Lawford.
Synopsis
L'action se déroule à Medicine Bend, une bourgade sur les hauteurs montagneuses du Dakota. Attaquée par des Indiens, la personne chargée du télégraphe a le temps, avant sa mort, d'envoyer un message au fort McClelland. Le colonel Collingwood, le commandant du fort, envoie sur place une escouage dirigée par trois amis : les sergents Merry, Deal et Barrett. Un ancien esclave noir, qui souhaite s'engager dans l'U.S. Cavalry, les suit malgré l'interdiction qui lui en a été signifiée. Une fois arrivés à Medicine Bend, l'équipe ne trouve aucune trace des habitants et sont attaqués par les guerriers de Mountain Hawk.Actors

A Mexican village is periodically raided for food and supplies by Calvera (Eli Wallach) and his bandits. As he and his men ride away from their latest visit, Calvera promises to return to loot the village again. Taking what meager goods they have, the village leaders ride to a town just inside the American border hoping to barter for weapons to defend themselves. While there, they encounter Chris Adams (Yul Brynner), a veteran Cajun gunslinger. After listening to their tale, Chris suggests that the village hire gunfighters, which would be cheaper than guns and ammunition. The village men relentlessly try to convince him to be their gunman. At first he agrees only to help them find men, but later he decides to recruit six other men to help him defend the village, despite the poor pay offered.

On the Northwest Frontier of India, circa 1880, contact has been lost with a British outpost at Tantrapur in the midst of a telegraph message. Colonel Weed (Montagu Love) dispatches a detachment of 25 British Indian Army troops to investigate, led by three sergeants of the Royal Engineers, MacChesney (Victor McLaglen), Cutter (Cary Grant), and Ballantine (Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.), long-time friends and veteran campaigners. Although they are a disciplinary headache for their colonel, they are the right men to send on a dangerous mission. "Big" Jim Stevens, undisputed boss of the Chicago underworld, gets an unexpected birthday present from his ambitious lieutenant, Guy Gisborne. Instead of a stripper popping out of the cake, Big Jim gets shot by all the guests. With the mob boss out of the way, Gisborne takes over. He orders all the other gangsters in town to pay him protection money, but declares it's still "All for One." In late 1945, one-armed John J. Macreedy (Spencer Tracy) gets off a passenger train at the isolated desert hamlet of Black Rock. It is the first time in 4 years that the train has stopped there.
