Abuso di potere (internationally released as Shadows Unseen) is a 1972 Italian crime film directed by Camillo Bazzoni. The film, despite the original plot, contains several references to actual events, such as the killing of journalist Mauro De Mauro.
Synopsis
À Palerme, le journaliste Enrico Gagliardi (Umberto Orsini) est assassiné. L'enquête est confié au commissaire Luca Miceli (Frederick Stafford). Vingt-quatre heures après le meurtre, il reçoit une dénonciation téléphonique anonyme qui le conduit à l'auteur présumé. Mais Miceli doute de sa cupapibilité et poursuit son enquête.Actors

In Copenhagen in 1962, a high-ranking Soviet intelligence officer, Boris Kusenov (Per-Axel Arosenius), defects to the West with his wife and daughter after a chase through the streets to the US embassy. In Washington DC, CIA agent Mike Nordstrom (John Forsythe) debriefs him and learns that Russian ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads are to be placed in Cuba. Needing physical evidence of the missiles, he contacts an old friend, French agent André Devereaux (Frederick Stafford), at his house in Georgetown. Nordstrom discloses Kusenov's name to Devereaux, asking him to bribe Luis Uribe, a member of Cuba's U.N. delegation, to provide photographs of documents confirming the missile bases in Cuba (knowing that Uribe hates the United States and would never cooperate with an American agent). Devereaux decides to accompany his daughter Michèle (Claude Jade) on her honeymoon with journalist François Picard (Michel Subor) as a reason to go to New York City. His wife Nicole (Dany Robin) is worried and tries to dissuade him.

Naples, à la fin du XIXe siècle. Après un séjour en prison, le jeune Nicola Bellizzi s'installe dans un quartier misérable de la ville contrôlée par la Camorra. Luca Di Angelo (Fabio Testi) is a smuggler, one member of an organized team trafficking cigarettes and booze up and down the coast off Naples, Italy. After a run-in with the police in which the smugglers manage to get away by faking a boat explosion resulting in the police motorboats responding to the false emergency allowing the smugglers to get away, Luca and his brother Mickey suspect Scherino (Ferdinand Murolo), the head of a rival gang of smugglers, of passing on their actives. Lucia and Mickey take their accusations to their boss Perlante (Saverio Marconi) a sleazy playboy withy numerous Mafia connections, who agrees to look into it. After a nighttime fire at Mickey's racing stables kills a valued racehorse, he and Luca drive over to inspect the damage. But on the way, they are stopped at a fake police roadblock where the assassins dressed as policemen trick Mickey into getting out of the car and machine-gun him to death over and over again (a homage to Sonny Corelone's death scene in The Godfather), while Luca barely escapes injury by hiding on the floor of the car.
