En France, ce téléfilm a été édité pour la première fois en 2013 par Showshank Films (au format DVD) en version sous-titrée accompagnée d'un doublage français réalisé pour la première diffusion du téléfilm au Québec. Le titre du téléfilm dans l'édition française a été traduit par Incident aux chutes Victoria.
Incident at Victoria Falls est le second volet d'une série de deux téléfilms mettant en scène Christopher Lee et Patrick MacNee dans les rôles respectifs de Sherlock Holmes et du Docteur Watson, après Sherlock Holmes and the Leading Lady (1991). Après leur diffusion, les deux films ont d'abord été édités en VHS sous une forme écourtée (en territoire anglophone uniquement), avant de connaître des rééditions intégrales en DVD.
L'intrigue se déroule en 1910 dans les colonies britanniques du sud de l'Afrique (notamment aux chutes Victoria), où Holmes mène une enquête liée au diamant nommé « l'Étoile d'Afrique ». Le cadre africain est une rareté dans les pastiches et adaptations filmées des enquêtes de Sherlock Holmes.
Synopsis
King Edward demander Sherlock Holmes pour effectuer une tâche plus avant sa retraite: pour sauvegarder l'étoile de l'Afrique sur un voyage à Cape Town. Bientôt le joyau légendaire est volé et plusieurs personnes finissent par être assassiné.Actors

Situated in the early 1980s, Shari Karney is a successful attorney, assigned to an incest case, involving a three-year-old girl, Christie, who is being molested by her father. She initially refuses to take the case, explaining that she isn't familiar with cases involving sexual abuse. She is later convinced by the child's mother, Darlene Holland, but the trial proves to be difficult. Nine months later, she is heavily invested in the case, which involves her private life. She has trouble sleeping at night and is often bothered by flashbacks of her own past. Whenever she tries to make love with her boyfriend Mark, she suffers panic attacks. She eventually attacks David Holland, the man charged, in the courtroom and is therefore sent to jail for two days.

A series of tornadoes in West Tennessee cripple the Helman-Klein Nuclear Power Plant by damaging a power transformer and a generator. This leaves the plant with very little power to operate. As an operator shuts down non-vital systems, which include the electric pumps, a second tornado hits the plant, damaging the diesel pumps. Meanwhile Campbell Maguire (Daniel Costello), the plant supervisor's young son, is caught in the twisters. His babysitter is killed and he runs away towards the plant on his bike.

The story begins in the present as unfolds along with scenes from the past about Edna (Henry), a woman in a hospital who each day writes down her memories. Edna cannot (or will not) talk to her doctor, and nurses have to take care of her basic needs. In Paris, France, two workers find a hidden chamber while digging beneath the Saint Jean André Church. They collect the valuable objects in the area but they are attacked by a creature. Meanwhile, the discredited Professor Jack Randall, who wrote a book about Gargoyles rejected by the experts, is encouraged by his friend Carol Beckham to check the place out. They sneak in the site during the night and while Carol is collecting some artifacts, Jack is recording with his camera. Out of the blue, Jack sees a winged monster coming towards him and he flees from the location with Carol, but breaks his camera. They go to a bar and a huge stone falls over onto his car. Jack takes a cab to his boarding house and Carol is attacked and beheaded by a Gargoyle at her apartment. The next morning, Jack identifies Carol's body and becomes the prime suspect of Inspector Gibert in several murders. Jack decides to seek out the reporter of a sensationalist newspaper, Nicole Ricard, and gives his tape to her cameraman Walsh. When Walsh recovers the badly shaped footage, he shows Nicole and they realize that Jack is not crazy and he had seen a Gargoyle indeed beneath the church. They decide to return to the church to investigate.
