Synopsis
Cinq amis d'enfance se lancent chaque année à la même époque dans une féroce compétition de... chat perché ! Le but du jeu est de toucher leurs concurrents en criant « Chat, c'est toi qui y est ! ». Baby est chauffeur pour un gang de braqueurs à Atlanta. Enfant, il a survécu un accident de voiture au cours duquel ses parents sont tués, mais qui lui cause des acouphènes qu'il atténue avec la musique. Il travaille dorénavant pour Doc, le chef du gang, afin de rembourser une dette en compensation d'avoir volé une voiture. Entre deux jobs, il fait des remixes des conversations enregistrées et prend soin de son père adoptif atteint de surdité, Joseph. Un jour, il fait la rencontre de la jeune et jolie Debora, serveuse d'un diner, avec lequel il sympathise avant de commencer à sortir ensemble. Lors d'un nouveau « boulot » au cours duquel un témoin armé l'a poursuivi ainsi que la police avec le gang, avant de parvenir à s'échapper, Baby quitte le monde criminel après avoir payé sa dette auprès de Doc et devient livreur de pizzas. Alors qu'il a invité Debora au restaurant, Baby, pensant fuir un monde qui ne lui ressemble pas, a la désagréable surprise de voir Doc, qui interrompt leur dîner. Ce dernier contraint le jeune homme à participer à un autre coup en dévalisant un bureau de poste, sous peine de s'en prendre à Debora et Joseph.

To celebrate his upcoming marriage to Tracy Garner (Sasha Barrese), Doug Billings (Justin Bartha) travels to Las Vegas with his best friends Phil Wenneck (Bradley Cooper) and Stu Price (Ed Helms), as well as Tracy's brother and Doug's future brother-in-law Alan (Zach Galifianakis), in Doug's future father-in-law's vintage Mercedes-Benz. They stay at Caesars Palace, where they relax in the room before celebrating with a few drinks on the hotel rooftop. The next morning, Phil, Stu, and Alan awaken to find they have no memory of the previous night, and Doug is nowhere to be found. Stu is missing a tooth, their hotel suite is in disarray, a tiger is in their bathroom, a chicken in their living room, and a baby is in the closet, whom they name "Carlos". They find Doug's mattress impaled on a statue outside of their hotel and when they ask for their Mercedes, the valet delivers an LVPD police cruiser.

Two years after their escapade in Las Vegas, Stu Price, Phil Wenneck, Alan Garner and Doug Billings travel to Thailand to celebrate Stu's upcoming wedding to Lauren. Much to Alan's dismay, they are joined by Lauren's younger brother, Teddy. Lauren's father's reveals his disapproval of Stu during a toast. A low-level marijuana dealer named David Clark (Jason Sudeikis) who lives in Denver is robbed of his money and stash, some of which he owes to his wealthy drug lord supplier Brad Gurdlinger (Ed Helms). After David is brought to him, Gurdlinger forces David to smuggle marijuana from Mexico as a solution to clear his debt. Realizing that one man attempting to get through customs is too suspicious, he hires a middle-aged stripper neighbor stage-named Rose (Jennifer Aniston), a runaway and petty thief named Casey (Emma Roberts), and his 18-year-old neighbor Kenny (Will Poulter), to pose as a bogus family called the "Millers". When the Millers reach the compound, they find out that the amount of marijuana they were picking up is not "a smidge" as Gurdlinger had informed them, but actually two tons. Because of the extra load of the marijuana on the RV, one of the radiator hoses breaks while going up a steep incline. A family they had encountered at the border, the Fitzgeralds, consisting of Don (Nick Offerman), Edith (Kathryn Hahn), and Melissa (Molly Quinn), catch up to them and tow the Millers' RV to a repair shop. On the trip to the shop, David learns that Don Fitzgerald is a DEA agent after finding his badge and gun in the glove compartment.

During the original outbreak of the Rage Virus, Don, his wife Alice, and four other survivors hide in a barricaded cottage on the outskirts of London. They hear a terrified boy pounding at their door, and let him in. A few minutes later, they discover that the infected have followed the boy to them. The infected attack and kill most of the survivors, while Don, Alice, and the boy are chased upstairs. Don is separated from Alice and when the boy is seen hiding in the closet. Alice rushes to get the boy, while Don tells her to just leave him. Soon the infected break into the room and after Alice pleading with Don to "help us", he decides to leave, abandoning them. Don desperately sprints to a nearby motorboat and narrowly escapes.
