Add to a movie listThank God It's Friday is a 1978 American musical comedy film directed by Robert Klane and produced by Motown Productions and Casablanca Filmworks for Columbia Pictures (whose torch-holding mascot, in a specially produced logo, dances to disco music before the opening credits). Produced at the height of the disco craze, the film features The Commodores performing "Too Hot to Trot", and Donna Summer performing "Last Dance", which won the Academy Award for Best Song in 1978. The film features an early performance by Jeff Goldblum and the first major screen appearance by Debra Winger.

The film begins with three furry aliens--the blue Mac (Goldblum), the yellow Zeebo (Wayans), and the red Wiploc (Carrey)--traveling in a space ship. It's been a long time since they've had female companionship, and they receive a broadcast showing human females. They are titillated by these "hairless", shapely creatures and discover that the broadcast came from Earth, so they set off toward Earth and Southern California.

In Ancient Egypt, Yocheved and her two children, Miriam and Aaron, watch as newborn Hebrew boys are taken and ruthlessly killed as ordered by Pharaoh Seti I, who fears that an increase of Hebrew slaves could lead to rebellion. Fearing for her own newborn son's safety, Yocheved places him in a basket afloat on the Nile. Bud Davis (John Travolta) moves to Houston for a job in the city's oil refinery industry. He hopes to save enough money to move back to his hometown of Spur, Texas and buy some land. Bud stays with his Uncle Bob (Barry Corbin) and his family, to whom Bud is close. Landis made three music parts of this film, which are - in fact - music videos of B.B. King's songs: "Lucille", "Into the Night" (specially composed by Ira Newborn for movie Into the Night ) and also for the song "In the Midnight Hour". Videos for "Lucille" and "In the Midnight Hour" are similar and shows B.B. King and his Band (Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Pfeiffer, Dan Aykroyd, Eddie Murphy and Steve Martin) during their performance in one of the 80's night's clubs. Video made for "Into the Night" took place in television studio and shows B.B. King with Jeff Goldblum. Jeff Okun directed the rest of this film (including editing archival King's footage and interviews with Landis and King). The movie was made to promotion Into the Night movie and as a tribute to B.B. Harper Hutton was once a Broadway dance star until a leg injury cut her career short. While she has gone on to be a successful choreographer, Harper still wishes for the stardom denied her. She has pushed her daughter Mirabella in her place, going so far as to produce an entire show around her. However, Mirabella tells her mother that she has fallen in love with Marco and is flying to Italy to marry him. Convinced the man is no good and will ruin Mirabellas' life, Harper prepares to follow Mirabella but when she drinks a "youth potion," she finds herself transformed into her 25 year old self. La chaîne de restauration rapide American Chicken Bunker a construit un de ses restaurants sur le site d'un vieux cimetière indien. Ainsi les contestataires alter-mondialistes du CLAM (College Lesbian Against Mega-conglomerates) manifestent. Arbie arrive sur les lieux de la manifestation et découvre que Wendy, son ex, est devenue lesbienne. Le jeune homme décide alors de se faire embaucher dans le restaurant pour s'opposer à cette dernière. Il va rencontrer des gens aux personnalités particulières : Carl Jr. un grand garçon un peu bête, Paco Bell le jeune mexicain homosexuel, Humus la musulmane et le général Lee Roy, gérant de la chaîne de restauration rapide. Malheureusement la malédiction de l'ancienne tribu indienne va s'abattre sur le restaurant et ainsi transformer la viande qui fera muter les gens en poulets-zombies. Les personnes coincées à l'intérieur de ces lieux maudits vont découvrir qu'ils vont être contraints de s'unir pour survivre.
