Jimmy, while working at a strip club in Kings Cross, is approached by local mob boss Pando who says he has work for him. David Locke (Jack Nicholson) is a television journalist making a documentary film on post-colonial Africa. Master thief Max Burdett (Pierce Brosnan) and his beautiful accomplice, Lola Cirillo (Salma Hayek), steal the second of three famous diamonds, known as the Napoleon diamonds, from FBI Agent Stanley P. Les frères Logan peuvent aussi compter sur leur sœur, Mellie, qui tient un salon de coiffure. Cette petite équipe va donc commettre ce braquage sur la légendaire course de NASCAR Coca-Cola 600, durant le Memorial Day.
