The Confidence Man JP: The Movie (コンフィデンスマンJP the movie, Konfidensu Man JP the movie, litt. « L'Homme de confiance JP : le film ») est une comédie policière japonais réalisée par Ryo Tanaka et sortie le 17 mai 2019. C'est l'adaptation de la série éponyme de 10 épisodes diffusée sur Fuji TV du 9 avril au 11 juin 2018

Elle est première du box-office japonais de 2019 lors de son premier week-end d'exploitation.

Synopsis

Trois voleurs, Dako (Masami Nagasawa), Boku-chan (Masahiro Higashide ) et Richard (Fumiyo Kohinata) tentent de dérober le diamant de Ran Riu (Yūko Takeuchi), une parraine des Triades de Hong Kong. Pendant ce temps, un autre voleur nommé Jessie (Haruma Miura) tente également de s’emparer du diamant.

Takakura et Yusakon emménagent dans un nouveau quartier. Emi Hosho, a third-rate lawyer without much of a future, is tasked with defending Goro Yabe, a man arrested for the murder of his wife. A top notch seven-member team of doctors and nurses known as “Team Batista” are Tojo University Hospital’s pride and joy. The medical team performs a prominent heart surgery known as the Batista Operation which has a normal 60% success rate, but the team has consecutively pulled off twenty six successful surgeries. However, the streak is broken after a string of three procedures end in their patients' deaths. Consequently, an internal investigation is launched with hospital therapist Kohei Taguchi in charge of uncovering the truth behind the incidents. When Taguchi is unable to find any definitive information, the deaths are labeled as unexplainable accidents. The evaluation is subsequently dismissed by Keisuke Shiratori, an investigator with the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, who re-launches the investigation on the basis that the deaths were actually murders.
