Il s’agit de la troisième collaboration entre le réalisateur Jean-François Richet et l'acteur Vincent Cassel après le diptyque L'Instinct de mort / L'Ennemi public n 1 (2008) et Un moment d'égarement (2015).
Synopsis
En 1805, Eugène-François Vidocq, une légende des bas-fonds parisiens pour ses multiples évasions, est emprisonné une fois de plus dans un bagne flottant. Il disparaît pendant des années après une nouvelle évasion, avant de réapparaître sous les traits d'un marchand drapier. Bientôt rattrapé par son passé, il est accusé par deux voyous d'un crime qu'il dit n'avoir pas commis et arrêté par la police. C'est le début d'une longue lutte pour sa réhabilitation, au cours de laquelle il met sa connaissance du milieu au service de la « brigade de sûreté » de Paris avec un petit groupe de proscrits et de marginaux dont le rôle est d'infiltrer le crime organisé. En raison de ses résultats exceptionnels, il s'attire les foudres des policiers classiques, ainsi que de la pègre qui met sa tête à prix.Actors

Part 1 depicts Mesrine's life from 1959 to 1972, beginning with his time as an member of the French Army during the Algerian War, where he was forced to shoot and kill prisoners and bomb-makers. On his return to France, he moves into his parents' home, where he reunites with his mother and his father. After an argument about getting an honest job, he meets with his old childhood friend, Paul, who is wealthy now and drives a sports car. They soon get into robbery business with Paul's boss, Guido, and from him, he obtains a Citroën DS as a loan. Later, Guido and Mesrine kill Ahmed, an Arab pimp who beat up Sarah (one of his girls and Mesrine's girlfriend), and bury him alive in the countryside and drive off.
