The film arose some scandal in reason of explicit nudes (defined by critics as "gynecological") and sex scenes involving a well-known actress as Stefania Sandrelli. It obtained a great commercial success.

Synopsis
En 1940, à Venise, alors que l'Italie fasciste s’apprête à entrer en guerre, Nino, un homme déclinant et libertin, tient le journal de ses frustrations et de ses fantasmes avec le désir inavoué que Teresa, sa très belle épouse, le lise. Laszlo, son futur gendre, est photographe. Nino obtient sa complicité en lui demandant de développer des photos de sa femme en tenue suggestive. Laszlo accepte mais fait en sorte que Lisa, sa fiancée, fasciste convaincue, les trouve. Lisa adopte ensuite une attitude ambiguë car, après avoir vertement reproché son inconduite à sa mère, elle fait en sorte de la rapprocher de Laszlo afin qu'une liaison se concrétise. Teresa se met alors à son tour à rédiger un journal qui répond à celui de son mari.Actors

In London, the beautiful Venetian Carla Burin (Yuliya Mayarchuk) is an intern at the front desk of an hotel. She is looking for an apartment to allow her boyfriend Matteo (Jarno Berardi) to join her there. The real estate agent, Moira (Francesca Nunzi), a bisexual, rents her a loft with a view of the Thames, with "intimate conditions." When the hot-tempered, jealous Matteo finds a nude picture of Carla and letters from her former French ex-lover Bernard (Mauro Lorenz), Carla and Matteo have a row on the telephone. Angry at Mateo, Carla sleeps with Moira. Matteo, desperate, comes to London, where he finds Moira naked in Carla's apartment. He confronts Carla about all her past infidelities and refuses her invitation to perform fellatio on him before leaving. After a walk in the park, where he sees lots of sexual activity, he changes his mind. Carla shows up with a written account of her infidelities, but Matteo declares he no longer needs to know.

Caligula is the young heir to the throne of the syphilis-ridden, half-mad Emperor Tiberius. One morning, a blackbird flies into his room; Caligula considers this a bad omen. Dodò (Francesco Casale) is a Roman university lecturer who is of ripe age and prominent standing but his life is still under the mandate of his father Alberto (Franco Branciaroli), a retired professor and mature womaniser currently bedridden due to a fracture and living with his nurse Fausta (Cristina Garavaglia). His relationship with his father is further traumatised by Dodò's affliction for his deceased mother. Dodò is married to voluptuous Silvia (Katarzyna Kozaczyk as Katarina Vasilissa), a former student of Alberto but, one day, Silvia leaves Dodò with no obvious reason. Dodò indulges his sexual urges with getting deeper in his obsessive voyeurism. Soon, Silvia comes up with the confession of having an affair with another man. Silvia contrasts Dodò's sentimentalism with her illicit lover's raw sexuality and Dodò starts to think that the other man is actually his father Alberto.
