Synopsis
Depuis la mort mystérieuse de son compagnon Peter, Eleanor est devenue amnésique. Actrice, elle ne souvient plus du tout de Peter, qu'elle croit toujours vivant, et continue sa vie à Bruges. Elle ne se rappelle plus qu'elle a épousé un autre homme, George, et elle entretient une liaison avec un acteur de théâtre, Thomas, avec qui elle joue dans une pièce inspirée de la vie de Lady Godiva. Un jour, lors qu'elle se trouve aux alentours du port, devant une cabine téléphonique, Eleanor tombe nez à nez avec un homme en train de boire, avant de s'évanouir choquée. Emmenée à l'hôpital, elle retrouve une partie de sa mémoire grâce à un sérum de vérité. Quelque temps plus tard, sa vie est chamboulée lorsque l'étranger qu'elle a aperçu la contacte au téléphone et tue ses proches. Sa meilleure amie, Dorothy, est tuée à coups de couteau. Après avoir abattu son époux, le tueur cherche à supprimer tous les témoins avant de faire disparaître Eleanor. Pendant ce temps, Margaret Vervoort, la directrice du théâtre, émet bientôt une hypothèse : et si Eleanor simulait l'amnésie afin de cacher des secrets assassins ? Car elle a hérité du domaine de Peter qui vaut une fortune et elle n'en parle jamais. De son côté, Eleanor pense que son nouveau mari et son amant ont fomenté un complot contre elle afin de la rendre folle.Actors

Detective Ulisse Moretti (von Sydow) is investigating a series of murders in Turin in 1983 known as The Dwarf Murders. The main suspect, a giallo novelist named Vincenzo de Fabritiis, turns up dead and the case is considered closed. However, seventeen years later, a similar series of murders begin and draw the since-retired Moretti back into the case. Moretti teams up with Giacomo (Stefano Dionisi), whose mother was murdered in the 1983 spree, to determine if de Fabritiis is still alive or was actually innocent of the crimes for which he was accused. Jerry is an upbeat man who works at a bathtub factory, and lives in a modified apartment above a bowling alley with his dog Bosco and his cat, Mr. Whiskers. Jerry is a man with an innocent, almost child-like demeanor, and suffers from delusions and hallucinations that manifest in the form of his pets talking to him. Bosco often represents his good intentions while Mr. Whiskers represents his more violent nature. One day, his manager compliments his hard work and chooses him to help organize an employee barbecue, and he gladly accepts the opportunity to work with his workplace crush, a British woman named Fiona. The following day he asks her out on a date. She initially agrees, though with reluctance, but then stands him up to go to a karaoke party with two other girls who work with her in the accounting department at work, Lisa and Alison. After the party, Fiona's car won't start, leading her to flag down Jerry as he drives by. Fiona offers to take him out for a late dinner to make up for standing him up on the original date, but on the way, Jerry accidentally hits a stag which crashes through his windshield. Jerry's hallucinations show the deer crying out in pain and begging Jerry to kill it so he slits the deer's throat. Fiona, terrified, runs off into the woods. Jerry pursues her and accidentally stabs her. Apologizing for his actions, Jerry kills Fiona to end her pain.

On Saturday, October 23, 1982, shop owner Harry Grimbridge (Al Berry) is chased by mysterious figures wearing business suits. He collapses at a gas station clutching a Silver Shamrock jack-o'-lantern mask and is driven to the hospital by station attendant Walter Jones (Essex Smith) all the while ranting, "They're going to kill us.
