Add to a movie listThe Life of Larry and Larry & Steve are two animated short films created by Seth MacFarlane in the mid 1990s that eventually led to the development of the animated sitcom Family Guy. MacFarlane originally created The Life of Larry as a thesis film in 1995, while studying at the Rhode Island School of Design. His professor at RISD submitted MacFarlane's cartoon to Hanna-Barbera, where he was hired a year later.
Later that year, MacFarlane created a sequel to The Life of Larry called Larry & Steve, which featured the main character of his first film, the middle-aged Larry, and an intellectual dog named Steve. The short was broadcast as one of Cartoon Network's World Premiere Toons in 1997. Executives at Fox saw both Larry shorts and contracted MacFarlane to create a series based on the characters, to be called Family Guy. Peter Griffin, one of the main characters in Family Guy, was largely based on Larry.
In addition, Steve would be the main inspiration behind the Griffin family dog, Brian. Fox proposed MacFarlane complete a 15-minute short, giving him a budget of $50,000. MacFarlane stated that the pilot for Family Guy took half a year to create and produce.
Recalling the experience in an interview with The New York Times, MacFarlane stated, "I spent about six months with no sleep and no life, just drawing like crazy in my kitchen and doing this pilot." Upon completion of the pilot, the series went on the air. The network executives were impressed with the pilot and ordered thirteen episodes, seven of which aired during the first season of Family Guy. MacFarlane was offered a $2 million per-season contract.

The DVD version shows the premiere of the film, where celebrities such as Drew Barrymore date the Kool-Aid Man, the Greased-Up Deaf Guy, the Evil Monkey, David Bowie, and the Griffins. Everyone goes into the theatre where Channel 5 reveals they have hired Glenn Quagmire to provide them with a bootleg copy of the film. We then see an advertisement for a new movie, People Who Look Like They Never Sleep... starring Susan Sarandon and Vince Vaughn, and another film, The Littlest Bunny. After this, the film begins.

Stan's video is ruined by constant interruption by his family, including Roger, whom Stan passes off as a kid who smoked a "marijuana cigarette", thus explaining his strange physical appearance. In 1882, in the town of Old Stump, Arizona, a cowardly sheep farmer named Albert Stark (Seth MacFarlane) is dumped by his beloved girlfriend Louise (Amanda Seyfried) as a result of his withdrawal from a gunfight. He prepares to leave for San Francisco, believing that the frontier holds nothing for him. Meanwhile, infamous outlaw Clinch Leatherwood (Liam Neeson) robs and kills an old prospector (Matt Clark) for a gold nugget. He orders his right-hand man Lewis (Evan Jones) to escort his wife Anna (Charlize Theron) to Old Stump to lie low while he continues his banditry. Lewis and Anna arrive in Old Stump under the guise of two siblings intending to build a farm, but Lewis is arrested after shooting the Pastor's (John Aylward) son (Dylan Kenin) in a saloon. During the ensuing brawl, Albert saves Anna from being crushed by two of the brawlers, and the two become friends. They attend a County Fair where Louise's new boyfriend, the foppish Foy (Neil Patrick Harris), challenges Albert to a shooting contest. Albert is defeated, but Anna steps up and defeats Foy. Foy insults Albert, who angrily challenges Foy to a duel in a week's time.

Elmer est en train de chasser dans un bois ; pendant ce temps on aperçoit seulement les pattes de Bugs Bunny qui semble faire une promenade, tandis qu'Elmer suit la piste des traces de Bugs, nous découvrons Daffy avec des pattes de lapin en train de se diriger vers le terrier de Bugs. Après avoir esquivé de justesse une balle d'Elmer, le lapin affirme qu'il s'agit en fait de la saison de la chasse au canard ; après eu Daffy à 3 reprises avec le coup des contraires, le canard se reprend une balle sur le bec lorsqu'il vérifie que le fusil d'Elmer ne contient plus de balles. Bugs cloue un panneau indiquant la saison du canard, Daffy se déguise grossièrement en lapin lorsqu'il rencontre Elmer et Bugs qui lui aussi déguisé en canard. À son grand dam, Daffy ne se rend pas compte que le panneau a changé et maintenant indique la saison du lapin : il se reprend une balle. Alors qu'il couvre Bugs d'insultes, le canard se rend compte que le lapin a sorti un livre de cuisine sur les canards : ce duel de recettes s'achève lorsque Elmer avoue qu'il est végétarien et chasse pour le sport. Les 2 victimes s'enfuient pour se cacher dans le terrier en plongeant et Bugs fait croire à Elmer que son fusil est un fusil à éléphant : l'un de ces pachydermes cloue littéralement le chasseur dans la terre. Elmer tombe sur Daffy déguisé en chien et Bugs en séduisante chasseuse : ils sont rapidement découverts lorsqu'une des oreilles de Bugs dépasse : le lapin et le canard arrachent des panneaux annonçant la saison du lapin et du canard. Ils prennent la place du chasseur lorsqu'ils tombent sur un panneau « saison de l'Elmer ».

Rob McGoarthy, the owner of the appliances and whom they refer to as "the master", is working in a veterinary clinic where he tends to injured animals. One night, while working on a thesis, his computer accidentally crashes caused by a terrible computer virus from an old TLW-728 supercomputer named Wittgenstein. The appliances, along with the rat Ratso who found Wittgenstein, then seek to help Rob by finding Wittgenstein to reverse the effects of his computer virus, hence recovering the master's thesis. Meanwhile, in a dual plot of the film, Mack, Rob's lab assistant, plots to sell the injured animals Rob had been tending, to a place called "Tartaras Laboratories", the same place that Sebastian, an old monkey Rob is tending to, was sent to when he was just a baby. When the appliances find Wittgenstein, they discover him abandoned, all alone and run-down and broken in the basement due to be infected by a computer virus. The miserable supercomputer reveals that he is living on one rare tube, named the "WFC 11-12-55". The appliances learn that unless they find a replacement quickly, Wittgenstein's tube will blow and lead to his apparent death.

Mickey veut devenir un pionnier de l'aviation, émulé par le récent exploit de Charles Lindbergh. Il tente de bricoler un avion avec les objets à sa disposition dans la grange de sa ferme. S'ensuit le décollage perturbé par la présence d'une vache sur la trajectoire de l'avion. Enfin dans les airs, Mickey tente de séduire Minnie puis de l'embrasser. Excédée, elle va sauter de l'avion pour échapper à cette tentative de baiser volé et elle est obligée d'utiliser ses dessous comme parachute pour ralentir sa chute. Mickey est distrait par tout cela et perd le contrôle de l'avion.
